The U.S. may just have better statistics in their child abuse reporting when compared to Canada.

Tipping the Gal who cuts hair
by Jim_TX inokay... i may act like a hick from a small-town... but... i'm curious about something.. what is the 'proper' amount that one is supposed to 'tip' the gal at the salon.
the one whut cuts the hair.. i've never really had a good idea... and i know that i look like a dufus... fumbling and mumbling... as i hand a dollar or two to the gal.. now... if i'm supposed to be giving something like $5.00... forget it!
i usually hand over 1 or 2 dollars - depending on how well i feel that they did.

It is so difficult to find a good hair stylist. I hate the people at the mall and those Super Cut places at the strip outlets are just scary, you never know who you are going to get. I've walked in many times only to be scared by who is working there, i.e.-very ugly women who have nasty hair themselves. However, then it is awkward, so I pretend I was looking for some kind of styling gel and then promptly leave after declaring that they don't have my brand. However, about a year ago I found this local Italian guy right in town who is from the old country(even his English is bad) but he is amazing-cuts like Edward Scissor Hands, none of that quick electric razor crap. He only charges $12 and I leave him a $3 tip. Oh, and this is the best part, he has one of those red and white spinning barber signs, just classic.

Theocratic Ministry School in the resumé?
by observador ini was doing a quick search on something else when i came across this resume of a fella who seemed to have been a bethelite.
down on his resume under "education", he includes the theocratic ministry school as part of his education.
this is not the first time i hear someone doing this.

He's going to get far with that on his resume.
Basically his resume should be one line
High School.
Which I'm not sure why JW kids even bother to finish High School, the 8th grade should be fine. Because if your not going on to college, there really is no point for schooling say even after 6th grade. No asks to see your High School diploma, your employer is not going to call up your old school and see if you graduated.

Maybe the new blood cards will be a big foldable chart with the acceptable and nonacceptable components on them. I can only imagine, but dubs would carry around a whole encyclopedia if the society told them.

united nations and watchtower society
by Ozner indear friends,.
of course, the jw doctrine says "no" to a connection between un and the watchtower society.. but: my personal opinion as a long-time witness is that this was a ultimate chance for the society to change things for good: the wts as a ngo, helping many people in the world to improve their lives, just as they did on a small scale with aidafrique in africa and asia earlyer.. why did the wts disconnected from un so soon after the guardian-story?
now, there are only losers, no winners: the wts, with all the pr-problems on this subject now, but more important, the many people who could be helped with a wts/unhcr aid-program or an aidafrique/unhcr aid-program.. the reaction of disconnecting so soon as possible was not a professional act!.

Good point Hawk, it's all about the wording. When I called Bethel the other day, that is what the guy there tried to tell me, saying oh, we have always been an NGO. Not a lie, but not exactly the truth as well.

Would You Go Back To A Kingdom Hall For A Funeral or Wedding?
by minimus inlet's say one of your relatives either died or invited you to a wedding at a hall, would you go?
-
Atilla
No, not even to my parents funeral. I can just imagine how it would go down. I would be there and some old JW friend would come up and ask if I was coming back, and then I would have kick his ass right there in the Kingdom Hall for trying to use my parents death as a way to witness to me. If no one tried that, then I'm sure I would get upset by the fact that the speaker only spent a few minutes on my parents life and I would have kick his ass right there in the KH. I guess I should just stay away.

Talking about images, what about the background of that website, gives me a headache, no offense.
