Actually Jesus must have been referring to an earthly resurrection....the way to heaven wasn't possible until after Jesus' death, plus he mentions Abraham and others (I think) in the same argument to the Sadducees who brought the whole question up....and they are not of the heavenly class. Of course I know that all the watchtowr beliefs are messed up. I would be interested to see how other religions view this.

QFR August 15, 2014 - Resurrection and Marriage
by wisdomfrombelow inthe article addressed luke 20:34-36 and now they finally admit jesus could have been referring to the heavenly resurrection.
they said "put simply, the answer is that we cannot say" which is surprising because they have something to say about everything.
perhaps all the old people who are waiting the new world as widow and widowers want to know if they have a chance to be reunited with their dead loved one.

The sinking ship
by dothemath ini can't even count the number of talks that have mentioned......."why build(paint, fix, etc.
) on a sinking ship?.
of course referring to the world in general.. these days i'm thinking that maybe the "sinking ship" is the watchtower society......... the magazing will probably be down to 2 pages in a few more years........ in our area most of the cities that had 4 congregations are now down to 2, and i know of several.

Do any of you plan on visiting the new facilities in Walkill, or wherever it is?

NEED HELP! Need quotes stating WTS doesn't allow other religious literature
by JWOP inwatchtower literature is sometimes like finding needles in haystacks.
where can i find quotes stating that a jehovah's witness is not to accept any literature from any other religions?
(i'm obviously not using the right search terms!).

I think it rather hypocritical for the society to have a policy like this........it's obvious that the ones who do the writing
of the magazines often read other religious literature..........they often quote from Catholic references, or from some
scholar. I've seen quotations from the Catholic observer, (I think that's what it was called.) The researchers who are
including quotes like this, had better read quite a bit of that article, just to make sure they haven't quoted anything
out of context.

Not so subtle message in convention drama
by dothemath inmy take on the drama this year is yet another slam against having children......... the "ideal" is still to pioneer........they're the ones put on a pedestal, both the younger and older couples.. the young mother, is forced to care for a cranky, crying child........

A new method of "counting time".
by dothemath ini think everyone who does put in a field-service report........should just use the principle from "a day for a year".
(num.
4:6) i know i put in about 6 minutes of actually talking to someone about religion at work, so in.

(Num. 14: 34 Ex. 4:6) I know I put in about 6 minutes of actually talking to someone about religion at work, so in
my report I ended up with about 6 hours!
As a side point.......do the elders in your cong. grill you on putting in your report the very second the month ends?
They don't even send it away until a week later.......yet make it seem as if its life and death.

I found out recently all the elders in Canada are attending a 5 day course at various locations throughout the country.
I thought maybe they were getting a new book, but I guess they've already received it some time ago.
I was wondering if the US has these meetings also? (they just had a 2 day course not that long ago, now they have
to use up their holidays for a 5-day course, right in the middle of summer)

Who are the Pharisees today?
by dothemath ini find many similiarities between the pharisees and witnesses today......... both used disfellowshipping as a weapon (john 12: 42........"because of the pharisees they would not confess.
him, in order not to be expelled from the synagogue").
both add endless rules, yet forget about the important ones, such as love, etc.

the weightier matters of the Law, namely, justice and mercy and faithfulness.")
both used every opportunity to emphasize their position over the people.......(ex. ......we can no longer have
a watchtower study without several mentions of the "faithful and discreet slave")
There are probably many more similiarities, but thinking about it, many Witnesses would have made excellent Pharisees
back in Jesus' days on earth.

Singing is now important?
by dothemath inlast meeting there was a lot of emphasis on singing......even giving out the songs for the upcoming ca so we.
could practice.
and of course they emphasized how we should be present for songs, etc.

My point is.........at any of the elders meetings I went to (many years ago now).......we never sang any songs, even at
the very large meetings when there were brothers from the whole circuit or more.
I doubt this has changed, so unless someone knows differently..........I think the singing thing is off key entirely.
(btw............our congregation absolutely sucks at all of the songs)

What is the greatest act of love God has done? Interresting question for non-trinitarians
by teel incurrently i am not taking any of sides, but here's an interresting topic, i would be interrested what can an anti-trinitarian answer to this.. i found this article here: has the jehovah's witness' god performed the greatest act of love?.
in a nutshell: john 15:3 "greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends".
jesus laid down his life.

If you believe God laid down his life for mankind.........that means God was actually dead........a total impossibility.
