Sounds very much like being in the mob. Or the tail end of the Eagles tune Hotel California, " You Can Check Out Anytime You Like, But You Can Never Leave ".

Something about a building that was about to fall on a Kingdom Hall after an earthquake or something to that effect.
This building that loomed over the KH was alledged to have remained suspended in mid air until it was that all members, at least those in good standing, were able to get out and once they did, the building fell on the Kingdom Hall. Kinda' Scary EHHHH???

a quiet moment on the beach
by teejay inthere was a commercial on tv tonight during a football game... .
a couple with their backs to the camera were sitting on a beach facing a crystal blue sea.
soft, tropical breezes blew, seabirds called to one another, gentle waves crashed onto a pristine golden shore.

I just got strait up honest about it, told the Mrs. in no uncertain terms, when I'm in the car, and alone, I'm always checking out the honeys, and also told her that when I'm with her, and she knows this, that she gets the respect of my not looking, at least not over-looking, at women out there, and believe it or not there are those times when one will come into the field of radar, she'll be there and I'll have to say " Boy, Shes Got an Attention Getting Ass, Doesn't She?" and she'll usually have to admit.
As respects when in the company of any woman, however, be she my sister, my neighbor, a passive female friend, I treat them all as if my eyes are for them alone, I mean,... its about decorum and there will always be ample opportunity to window shop, without the need for putting their feelings in jeopardy. No one but you and her may know that theres nothing going on between each other, but what type of image do you wish to project in public? It can make all the difference in the world. It mostly a matter of respect.

Is the Organizaton slowing down or are we just imagining it?
by JH inevery time i speak to an active jw in my congregation, they don't give me the impression that they are slowing down.
if i say that i see less jw's on the street knocking on doors, they will say that many are working full time.
they will also probably say that the hall is always full of people.. i don't go to the hall anymore, so i can't say if the hall is full or not, but i notice that there are way less jw's going door to door than before in this area.

What fascinates me more than anything else is the absolute futility that I see when ones are even out doing street work. The slow steady walk thats done merely to increase the clock's second hand and increasing the hours spent out in the ministry.
They spend more time conversing with each other and nodding as if it were to passersby, I mean, I've been one of the passersby, no one even tried to place a magazine, they didn't know me to have been previously associated with being a JW, and as a passerby, I'm pretty much given the traditional head-nod, ( I truly have no idea what thats all about ) at best am offered a tract and they keep right on going and going and going.......

My Fascination With Nicely Shaped Jugs
by Englishman inthis is a part of my collection.. the all-blue jug and the "pinch pot" below were made in a local pottery in the 1920's and are known as wesuma ware.
(weston super mare).
the others are all doulton lambeth ware from the late 1800's, well before the company came to be called royal doulton.

Hotwheels, Johnny Lightnings are some of the things I collect.
Though I have a very sincere desire to collect what I would deem the finest bicycle on earth, that being the 60's Schiwinn Orange, Apple, Lemon and Lime Crates, Also the Grey Ghost Crate from the same era.
As a child I always wanted that bike. they were the closest thing any 8 year old could get to driving a car. Our bikes in the 60's were a childs entrance into a world of speed, thrill and just being so cool.

SCORE = 11 US, 8 THEM
by bikerchic ini added up all the imediate members of my family who have left the b'org and more have left then remain.
this was promped by a conversation i had lastnight with my son who told me about a jw kid from his past got in contact with him out of the blue and she was telling him how many in her family were now df'ed and never planning on returning.
we were really surprised because she was an elder's daughter and one of the last people you would think would leave.. so what is your family score?

All my family members have long since left, I was the last man standing before I bought the proverbial bullet, an aunt who introduced me to "The Truth" in the 1970's, was disfellowshipped during the mid 1980's, as well as were all of her children who were baptized, of which at least one I know has been dead over 12 years. It was a life of perpetual tragedy, filled with issues of co-dependency, homosexuality and aids.
Though I can't lay blame on the Society for the un-wise choices my family members have made, the critical tyranical stance that is taken regarding erring members in "The Truth", can be viewed as a reason so much grief, pain and hardship, has, does and will no doubt continue to be a factor in the lives of those remaining.

Killing of JW Postal Worker
by prophecor inreading the thread about the jw postal worker killed, made me think long and hard about the truthfulness of what cipic was stating, that the society allows for ones to work in the post office but frowns upon driving a truck for a major company like coca-cola, because the possibility that one may have a route that goes to a military base for instance.
or maybe to a strip club for that matter, i mean the possibilities are almost endless.
what kind of guidelines do they use in such cases?

CN, thats strange that you would mention that, I now, vaguely remember some special significance that may have been eluded to regarding the importance of postal workers delivering the mail, with some reference to magazine delivery as well, wayyyyyyy back in the late 70's , I seem to remember a point a family member brought up during one of those assemblies or something............of course during that time I was way too focused on how not to find my potential mate. Being constantly encouraged asto the benefits of being single. Forget about it, giving attention to the whore moans, ahem excuse me, I mean hormones that were raging in our youthful bodies. But thats a topic for an entirely different thread.......
