what would say to someone that asks you that question now?
?
Where is Farkel when you need him??
what would say to someone that asks you that question now?
?
: But why little kiddies etc. - because that's what it takes for some people to see the truth about themself - and even then it doesn't do it
:People get on forums and blame God, when there's actually plenty for all - been to Africa with your spare coat lately ? And there's plenty of adventurous space to become a hero - willingly stuck your neck out for anyone suffering lately ?
:The tax-collectors and prostitutes enter before you
A Paduan, who are you addressing here? And who do you think you are?
what would say to someone that asks you that question now?
?
Now, that's a question that I not only cannot answer, but one that I have been asking Christians lately. By the way, not one of them has an answer to it either.
But as a Witness, we were given "the" answer to that question, and I bought it; but now I wonder if I only accepted it because that was the only way I could cope with the fact that God doesn't protect innocent children and others from horrors; little children being starved, beaten, raped, strangled, tortured, killed.
It's too hard to then pray for help with something in my life or for someone else, when I know that IF He were to answer, even grant my request, He will have done so while at the same time ignoring some innocent child's anguished plea for help somewhere else in the universe.
i watched the movie "mickey blue eyes" last night on tv, staring hugh grant.
at one point there is a knock at the door and mickey, looking through the peep hole, anounces "its the jehovah bloody witnesses".
there was more insitent knocking and the female occupant replies "they must be really devoted!".
Saturday Night Live had a sketch about a man-eating shark ( I think ) and he kept knocking, claiming to be someone he wasn't, and once he claimed to be either "Jehovah's Witnesses" or just "Watchtower."
I thought it was great. But even when still in, I could appreciate the humor in their jokes about us. Heck, we were ridiculous, we just didn't know it! I could always see their point of view.
There was a strange and sad Kevin Costner movie about a troubled man who took someone else's child on a cross country road trip ( he was considered a kidnapper ) - and the child was supposedly raised as a Witness. The little boy was in his jockey shorts for a good part of the movie, till Kevin bought him a Halloween costume, because the boy had always wanted to have one, and go trick or treating.
my wife just called me at work to tell me that because my cousin "thought" he overheard that my daughter and her fiancee smoked "weed", he declined to go to my (formerly disfellowshipped) niece's anniversary party!!!!!
this is the niece that tried to kill herself bercause no one would talk to her because she was df'd.
when my brother found out that my cousin, his wife and his parents declined the invitation because of this allegation, he literally threw up.
Well, I surely hope that your cousin comes to his senses at least enough to realize how he might really hurt the poor young woman. No chance that your mother could reason with him, have a heart to heart? Or has it already been tried?
i believe they are "cultlike" but i don't think they are a "cult"........and you?
Oh, talesin - super presentation! There is nothing like a personal experience. ( And I'm very sorry for yours, but I see that you're well now, so for that, I'm very glad.)
Thanks for bringing it "home." I'm sure it'll help others.

Minimus, side point, one of the things I love about you is you aren't proud, but you're fearless!!

What a wonderful discovery, Bryan! Wow! Rich heritage.
i recently came across this letter from one district overseer to an elder: .
"you did well in silencing the unspeakable teaching of the apostates.
from these are the "wandering stars" referred to in the prophecy, who wander from the narrow road of the commandments into a bondless abyss of the carnal and bodily sins.
Good find, Farkel, that was revealing. Thanks.
