Here's the latest news from Claire ----
First of all, Ian has been moved to a different ward, the "High Dependency Unit," so that he will be more closely monitored. Apparently they were a bit understaffed on the ALU ward, and they felt Ian needs more attention. (Don't worry if you have sent cards to the ALU ward --- I am sure the hospital will direct our cards to the right room.) He is on oxygen and has a line that goes into the jugular so that they can give him fluid and take blood without doing sticks. He was allowed to have a bottle of Coke today. His kidneys are still having problems. He is catheterized and Claire says he may have to have dialysis, but nothing has been scheduled yet. It's a 4-bed unit, and he now has one roommate. Oh, and the window is open, so he felt some spring breezes today.
Please keep this BTT! Marjorie

Adult Leukaemia Ward
He has been in the hospital in the isolation ward ever since March 16 (although they did allow him to go home for one night right before the chemotherapy).
A month is a long time, so please continue to send e-greetings and cards to let him know we are thinking of him.

Hi, friends ---
Just a note to let you know Ian has had a setback. There is a problem with his kidneys and he had to have a catheter inserted. The last couple of days have not been good, but Claire said that the nurse told her he had a better night last night and finally managed to get some sleep.
Because of the time difference I won't hear from her again until tomorrow at the earliest. I'll let you all know when I have any news.

All my best to you and your wife!
Warm regards,

dear all,.
i thought i'd best make a new thread rather than add my message to the vigil thread, for example, as it might not otherwise get noticed.. yesterday afternoon i was allowed home from the hospital - but only until wednesday morning!
as many of you will know, i have been in christie cancer hospital in manchester, england, ready to undergo a stem cell transplant (in my case, stem cells taken from my blood to be returned later).
BTT!
Dear ALL,
THANK YOU for all your messages - I'm in a dreadful state with all these tears! Literally, I'm really choked - I've never received so much loving kindness in my life!
Wombat, I'm surprised you didn't send it via reverse charges!
Grace, please don't apologise. I KNOW you have me in your thoughts and prayers! (((((((((()))))))))))
BTW, Christian Observer is a woman - and she is wonderfully kind and thoughtful! ;Thank you, C.O., for the beautiful cards for Claire and I.
I could go on naming people for what they've done, but I'd like to say I love you all equally!
I look forward to meeting up with you on my return. Please keep me in your prayers. They give me strength!
Love,
Ian

From SimplySally last week:
Ok, so I had 4 rounds of A/C and now I have had 11 rounds of Taxol an Herceptin....... 1 more to go!! Hurray!! Taxol is a chemo drug that targets the skeleton of the cells and it makes me exhausted, bone pain and spasms of muscle pain ..... one left next Monday. Then to every 3 week infusion of Herceptin until December!!
Just in case people aren't reading every post in the weekly "Vigil" thread, I'm posting this separately.
Kelly ---
We're all thinking of you today! Hope it all goes well!
Hugs and blessings!
Marjorie
