But wait ... surely anyone doing moderating has a JW Elder mentality? That's what I heard
Of course Simon...anyone knows that all moderators are power-hungry bastards who have no life and just love to lord over others on a electronic messageboard .
it seems the www.bobdylan.com discsussion forum has been closed by the moderator/sony.
speculations such as this are abounding:lot's of things were happening, vile creatures using many usernames, being banned and coming back under more and more usernames... threats were being made, a certain religious freak even threatened to report bobdylan.com/sony to the police for letting so much degraded talk go on, etc... ers, you know how to stay in touch with the people you care about.... and visa versa..... .
so much for running forums eh!!

I never been there before (I like Dylan but not enough to talk about him that much)...was it that bad or did they just not have enough moderators?
i recently talked to a jw ?elder?
friend of mine, who said that they just received a letter (us) from the society, stating that they should ?da?
anyone who takes a blood transfusion.
From what I have researched, the reason they are doing this is to create a legal loophole by claiming that people who take a blood transfusion have consciously chose to do so and thusly rejected being a Jehovah's Witness. This way, they can say that you aren't punished by them for exercising your conscious (something that is an issue in most court cases when people point out the flaws in their arguments)...
my 13 year old nephew is always calling me to come over and play xbox with him.
the xbox belongs to my 17 yr old step-nephew, all three of us play together a lot of the time.. problem is, all he ever wants to play is halo.
don't get me wrong, i think halo is one of the greatest video games ever made, but i just don't think that he is mature enough to keep a game like that in perspective.
If he likes Halo but you don't want him playing that then get Metal Arms: Glitch In The System. It is a Halo-type game with only robots in it and I think that he would find it VERY fun. If you need anymore information on videogames then just PM me, I am a moderator on the largest videogame messageboard on the 'net and I know a lot about XBox in particular.
death is like taking a trip, right?.

OK, let's say that there is this guy named John...and he decides to leave his hometown forever and never comes back. Here are some rumors about him:
John simply imploded when he hit the town line...however, there are people who say that this isn't true because they went over the town line and they simply saw a truck's headlights before coming back into town.
Some say that John left town but once in awhile talks to them over a special phone that is only located in the church...
A guy down the street said something about John coming back as different people & animals but we all just don't get that one.
The kids seem to always say that at night you can hear John driving down his old street honking the horn and yelling out about getting them all...
Marge at the salon said that John moved to some ritzy city to live with his dad and that he gets whatever he wants now...but Bob the bartender says that John never paid his tabs & stuff so now John is probably slumming it in Shelbyville...
Why did I make all this crap up? Because, it is 6:33am and I am bored as hell...what a lame post . Can you think of anything better for John?
i guess people are waking up.
still "taking the lead" in my congregation with severe .
doubts ?to add to that, this publicity about the child abuse issue .
That took a lot of guts and it is just sad how even when acknowledging a problem they cannot humble themselves to see things any other way but their own.
i thought i would throw something in the mix for folks to get a different perspective and a break from the turmoil that can come from our unique experience.. http://wonderofitall.com/.
please post your reactions good or bad (of course!
i'm curious to see what page we are all on.. g.
A little wordy and felt like an old man rambling but uplifting nevertheless....
a thought occured to me today about a formerly held view as a jw regarding people of other religions and people who left the 'truth'.
the first view which had bothered me for many years and for some time hotly disagreed with, was the ol' bro or sis who comes back into the service car and remarks on how the householder was catholic and how they must be so stupid and blind!
the second view i actually believed before was that all people leaving the org must certainly be hopeless and lost spiritually and obviously would never go to another religion.
For the two views you present, I am guilty of the first one but not the second (partly). I remember many times saying of Catholics that they "just don't get it" and even using terms like "they are a hard sell"... *shakes head sadly*
The second viewpoint though I never did use or understand. Yes, I did have pity and sadness when someone "left the truth" but I wasn't shocked if I heard that they had gone to another religion. In fact, I took it as proof that they were under Satan's influence...jeez, I was a jackass...
i just got back from going to the nasher sculpture museum in downtown dallas.
they are having a showing of a rare collection of picasso paintings and sculptures that everyone is talking about.. i'm starting to wonder... maybe i'm not as cultured as a thought.
nearly every time i looked at one of his works i found myself thinking: "what the hell was mug smoke'in when he did that?
I truly think that many people who are "art patrons" don't actually get the art either...they just like to ponder & speculate on it for days on end. I tried getting into artwork but it seems boring to me to purposefully spend an afternoon just looking at pictures in a museum setting.
