Baby steps taken with a grain of salt
by Israel Ricky Gonzales inseeing how my jw wife nearly lost it when i woke up to ttatt and was df'd just over a year ago, she has been showing cracks in her armor.. 1. she has stopped pioneering to resume her good-paying career, working full-time.. 2. she suggested marriage counseling.. 3. she suggested going to a latin rap concert at a casino for our anniversary.. 4. when we reconciled recently and began living together as a family again, she agreed to alternate weeks of jw activity with the kids, one week doing the jw thing with her and the next week not doing the jw thing with me .
5. she hasn't had perfect attendance at meetings or for field service since she started working full-time.
just last night, she skipped meeting to help co-workers prepare food for an employee appreciation luncheon held today.

VA shooting suspect was raised a JW! He mentions it on his Twitter account
by WingCommander inanyone in the usa following this morning's shooting "on-air" live tv will know what i'm talking about.
bryce williams (not real name, but on-air name) shot and killed 2 people on live television this morning in roanoke, va. he was wearing a go-pro camera, and uploaded his first-person video onto his social media accounts.
i've seen his twitter feed (before it was taken down), and not very far down he mentions being raised a jw.

Well, it looks like it's a combination of factors. His jw history is probably a factor in one very messed-up psychology. Having been through management training on how to work with difficult people, I can see why they ultimately fired him, but not without trying to work with him first. He appears to have felt that his personal entitlement was more important than the individual rights of his co-workers.
Here is more on things he's posted that are pertinent:

Once the 23-page manifesto that was faxed to ABC News and turned over to the police is leaked, we'll have a better idea of his motivation. Those of us who have lived the dub experience know darned well it nurtures crazy more than mollifying it. -

What were you favorite book in the organization? I know what you're thinking...LOL!
by BashfulAshG inwhat were *your favorite *books in the organization?.
out of all of those books, i liked "mankind's search for god.
" however, it appears to me that this book is incredibly obscure and no one recalls studying it during the old book study format.

humblepotato: Try looking up some of the subjects in the All Scripture book online. Remember, they always selected what supported their own narrative.

One of my dub aunts was disfellowshipped for not going along with the color the remodeled hall was supposed to be painted. At least that was the story I got. She was later reinstated and since then the whole family has faded. (That's one out of the four still living that has made it to sanity.) -

Hmm... What I liked about "Mankind's Search for God" was that it was very similar to the college Comparative Religion course I had taken just a couple years before -- before I quit college because Armageddon was coming and a worldly education would, of course, be of no value in God's new system of thiings (blah blah blah). It was almost scholarly, if you ignore the lead-me-to-the-jws bias.
The one I'm glad I kept, though, is the Kingdom Interlinear. It's handy to have the original Greek with the word for word translation, so you can draw your own conclusions compared to the NWT nonsense in the margins.
My favorite wt book experience was probably the extra NWT that I cut from its spine and shredded page by page.
