  I think Danny and Mickey's comments are dead-on.

  No, the guy didn't snap because he had been a jw. But he would have been vulnerable to their machinations in more ways than one. Plus, losing his mother at a relatively young age added a major life crisis that he probably never got over.

  The witness factor is relevant. Anti-gay, they would have shunned him once he came out if he were active. The judgement day looming over their heads takes a while to fade even for those who leave on purpose.

  Yes, it's very relevant. It should not be ignored.

  A Judicial experience.

  when i was an elder in the 80s, a 16 year old baptized jw girl had confessed that at school during lunch a boy kissed her and touched her privates over her dress.

  the circuit overseer was in town and we told him of the situation and he called the society and then told us that mother said we were not allowed to conduct the funeral in the kingdom hall or anywhere else with the threat of removing us and being dealt with judicially if we disobeyed.

  the mother who is about 79 years old comes once a year to talk to my mom about the situation.

  The thing about the "bad kings of Israel" is that they had prophets get sent to them to point out their wrongs and make them deal with it. That doesn't happen with the "imperfect men" excuse from the WT.

  Baby steps taken with a grain of salt

  seeing how my jw wife nearly lost it when i woke up to ttatt and was df'd just over a year ago, she has been showing cracks in her armor.. 1. she has stopped pioneering to resume her good-paying career, working full-time.. 2. she suggested marriage counseling.. 3. she suggested going to a latin rap concert at a casino for our anniversary.. 4. when we reconciled recently and began living together as a family again, she agreed to alternate weeks of jw activity with the kids, one week doing the jw thing with her and the next week not doing the jw thing with me .

  5. she hasn't had perfect attendance at meetings or for field service since she started working full-time.

  just last night, she skipped meeting to help co-workers prepare food for an employee appreciation luncheon held today.

  VA shooting suspect was raised a JW! He mentions it on his Twitter account

  anyone in the usa following this morning's shooting "on-air" live tv will know what i'm talking about.

  bryce williams (not real name, but on-air name) shot and killed 2 people on live television this morning in roanoke, va. he was wearing a go-pro camera, and uploaded his first-person video onto his social media accounts.

  i've seen his twitter feed (before it was taken down), and not very far down he mentions being raised a jw.

  Well, it looks like it's a combination of factors. His jw history is probably a factor in one very messed-up psychology. Having been through management training on how to work with difficult people, I can see why they ultimately fired him, but not without trying to work with him first. He appears to have felt that his personal entitlement was more important than the individual rights of his co-workers.

  Once the 23-page manifesto that was faxed to ABC News and turned over to the police is leaked, we'll have a better idea of his motivation. Those of us who have lived the dub experience know darned well it nurtures crazy more than mollifying it.
