We went and visited Bethel in the mid nineties and I remember a very devout family that said they would not set foot in the UN because that she (the mother) believed Satan's presence could be felt there as he was so active in its existence.

Skeptic,
I think you got it. 18 pages later Tirdwitness is still trying to justify it.
Watchtower says UN = beast
Watchtower associates with beast to borrow a library book

Thirdwitness:
Christians realize that the Bible draws a sharp distinction between true worship and false. They know that God does not approve of religious organizations that do not adhere strictly to the teachings of his Word. Therefore, they do not share in any way in the services of such organizations. Rather, they heed the Scriptural counsel: “Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what sharing do righteousness and lawlessness have? ... Or what portion does a faithful person have with an unbeliever? ... ‘Therefore get out from among them, and separate yourselves,’ says Jehovah, ‘and quit touching the unclean thing.”’—2 Cor. 6:14-17.
Is the 1874, 1914,1925, heaven closing in 1931, shunning those who disagree with their far fetched interpretations, and "not going above and beyond what is written" (which is a clear teaching of the bible), adhering strictly to the teachings of the bible?
By your own definition and the bible, the WTS fails as to being approved of by the very God you "claim" to worship.

Thirdwitness:Guess what? Everyone is associated with some country as a citizen. You must follow the laws and guidelines. As long as they dont conflict with God's laws. Jeez, you of all people should be aware what the WTS says about this. :Sometimes you join a government program to obtain certain benefits. As long as they dont conflict with God's laws. :You may have to become a corporation of the government in which you live to gain certain benefits provided only to corporations. Some countries require religions to send in an application to the government to be recognized as a legal religion. This has nothing to do with what the WTS did. They applied for association with the UN/DPI. :When becoming a citizen of a country a person must swear to support the constitution of the country. Is this wrong? Only if it conflicts with God's laws. The WTS has never said that it was wrong so you cannot judge them based on that. What if the WTS has to agree to support the constitution of the country in order to be recognized as a legal religion? Would that be wrong to do? What on God's green earth are you smoking? : The UN is no different from the governments. It is an authority placed in its relative position by God because He has allowed the governments to form the UN and to wield a certain amount of authority. It is not a religious organization. According to this kind of ridiculous reasoning, you could say God approves of pedophiles, rapists, murderers and pedophile priests etc because he has allowed them to do such. I shake my head in disbelief at your ridiculous way of trying to justify what the WTS did in joining the UN/DPI. Simply unreal! You are totally brainwashed! They did not have to join the UN for any reason other than to use the library, which is just plain ridiculous. They had other libraries to use; they did not need the UN library. Tor
