Daniel's Prophecy, 605 BCE or 624 BCE?
by Little Bo Peep inhello all, i've been reading your site for a couple of years now, and have found, for the most part, it to be very helpful.
i must say, at first i was very "scared" at what i might find, but contrary to what i grew up learning, there is a "wealth" of information outside of the watchtower organization.
i haven't attended meetings for about two years now, and like many i've read about, have spent many hours researching, telling myself "i'm not wrong for searching", and doing more research.

GB member Dan Sydlik's Exile
by Black Man ini was talking to an ex-bethelite who was at the 'big house' in the late 60s and early 70s and he mentioned that daniel sydlik was exiled (asked to leave bethel) for a couple years when he married his wife (who at the time was very young and very much his junior).
according to this ex-bethelite, his marriage was somewhat controversial and they didn't want it to stumble anyone at the time, so he still stayed in the nyc area, but just not in bethel?
of course, this was when they had the corporation director format and before they officially adopted the governing body structure.

Why were apocalyptic books included in the NT canon?
by logansrun inall right folks -- especially you scholarly ones -- let me state a question i've been having: .
from my understanding of christian history the proto-catholic church selected the books to be included in the nt canon after the first century was concluded (nt canon finalized in mid 2nd century?).
included in this canon were books which include some apocalyptic sayings of jesus (especially in mark) that obviously were not fulfilled, such as mark 9:1 "truly i say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of god has come with power.

More on Rud Persson's threat to turn you over to your local congregation: It's ironic that you, who scream about your academic freedom being threatened, don't seem to realize that it's not folks like Rud who threaten it, but your very own Mommy, the Society. If you weren't completely convinced that the Society would disfellowship you for associating with "apostates", you wouldn't see Rud's threat as a threat.
Aint dat da truth! My relatives walk around on eggshells fearing they might be talking to an apostate. Heaven forbid they might hear something that might stumble them. LOL What a joke, if they only knew the truth about the truth.
