it may be time consuming and exhausting to correct all of the deceptions, half-truths and out of context quotes contained in the watchtower's new brochures, so i'll make it simple.

here's 3 easy points that disprove all of their nonsense.. 1) australia proves evolution happened - what's the one country in the world with the weirdest animals on earth?

Just wanted to chime in a little more on New Zealand. Black Sheep already touched on it, but this is a really fascinating case study for evolution. Since there was no mammal competition, birds have evolved to take over every ecological niche normally filled by mammals. There are even birds that fill a role akin to moles.

Also, the idea that animals just kind of migrated to where the climate was right for them after Noah's Flood is blown away by observing that when foreign animals are introduced to places such as New Zealand by humans, they thrive. It's not a matter of the poor mammals just not being able to survive in New Zealand, it's that they never got there.

looking up all the references is a lot of work - one of the reasons nobody normally verifies these, but trust the writers.

as you will see, the writers are banking on this, but it is not a good thing to trust the wtbts writers.

please find the bibliography worked out for quotes 38-51, covering the heading "what about human evolution".. interesting is that many quotes are from the [u]preface[/u] of books, where the authors honestly explain the difficulties and assumptions related to evolutionary science.. After analyzing the matter with the committees of the six branches in Central America, the Governing Body has determined to centralize the supervision of the Kingdom work carried out in those countries.This will be implemented in the coming months, and it will be the branch in Mexico that will be in charge of supervising the work in these territories.

I had to laugh when I read that description. Yeah, I'm sure the six branches were eager to consider that proposal. "So, if we understand this correctly, the plan is to eliminate...us? That does seem like the most prudent option. Let's do it!"

Great to see you here. If it's food for thought you're looking for, you've come to the right place. :-)

I need to talk to process thoughts! As I talk, my brain warms up! I come to new realizations, epiphanies!...and I need to speak, speak, SPEAK to do it properly! I feel if I cannot speak, than I cannot think!

I think what you describe is a feature not so much of speaking per se, but of externalization. Both speaking and writing engage a rationalization engine that forces us to put our (possibly) nebulous thoughts into concrete terms, which helps us to come to the epiphanies you describe. Of course, having real-life conversations is excellent because of the real-time feedback, but for when you can't, you might find that writing produces a similar effect. This board is a great place to do that, and a private journal is helpful too. Just keep the externalization going and the revelations will keep coming.

Yeah, Mil, I remember that article. It was one of those pieces where the same sentence is meant to be understood in two completely different ways by the two different audiences. Something like:

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that in the near future, the United Nations will be involved in some truly amazing things.

Which, of course, sounds complimentary to anyone outside the Borg, but which insiders will understand to mean that the UN will destroy religion, kick off the great tribulation, etc, etc. You can practically see the wink and the nudge.

5th, maybe it's not a big deal to you, but it was kind of shocking to me when I first learned of it, and I know lots of other people for which it was an important piece of the puzzle. Anyway, it's always good to have the information out there. Whether it is particularly meaningful to you or not depends on what is important to you.

Of course the UN doesn't care. But it is big news to Witnesses, and it's nice to have a letter stating the facts on the UN web site.

Incidentally, if anyone wants to know how you can do this kind of search, in both Google and Bing, you can restrict searches to a particular domain by using the site: prefix. So, if you search on:
