in compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".
the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).
my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

i am calling on a brave individual to host a site using these archives.
if no one steps up, i will be forced to take on the task.

words fail me in describing my anger at the arrogance and truly evil scheming by the wt against quotes.
please discuss here how this site helped you, and what we can do to set up mirror sites from offshore isp's.. pm me if necessary.. quotes really helped me in my search, and i want it to be there for searchers.. .
and this is for you, ted jarascz.

Sorry I didn't post first on this thread. I have some comments on this thread:
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/104285/1.ashx
>> This will require some careful planning to be most effective.
Preferably, mirrors should be hosted at non-US locations where accounts can be created anonymously. When creating and maintaining the account, measures should be taken to ensure total anonymity.
Having a mirror up is by itself insufficient. People need to be able to get to the location. There should probably be a domain name that is memorable and fixed, like quotes.watchtower.ca was, which does nothing more than point to the currently active mirror. Even if the Society tries to get the mirror hosts to shut down (which they probably will) I don't think they can raise a fuss about a site that happens to link to a site they don't like.
I think only one mirror needs to be up at a time, although it would be good to have a list of hosts lined up for when the borg shuts down the current one.
Also, this will probably be a more controversial suggestion, but I believe that one person should be the content librarian so that we don't end up with multiple different versions of the site as maintenance is performed and new content added.
It would be good to discuss this issue further in private. PM me if you are well-established here and would like to join a discussion on this.
Lest the above comments be misconstrued, I do not condone any unlawful activity. The above comments should be taken as suggestions that I would make theoretically to someone interested in hosting potentially controversial, but completely lawful, content in the face of a corporation with the means to make legal trouble.

I'm curious, Rex. Did you actually read the article? It doesn't really support your position. Here are the next two paragraphs after the one you quoted:
Let's abandon this struggle to demarcate and instead let's liberally apply the label "science" to any collection of assertions about the workings of the natural world. Fine, intelligent design is a science then - as is astrology, as is parapsychology. But what has a claim to being taught in the science classroom isn't all science, but rather the best science, the claims about reality that we have strongest reason to believe are true. Intelligent design shouldn't be taught in the science classroom any more than Ptolemaic astronomy and for exactly the same reason: They are both poor accounts of the phenomena they seek to explain and both much improved upon by other available theories.
The suspicion that religion is lurking somewhere in intelligent design theory is correct, but its locus is often misidentified. The religion isn't in the claims of intelligent design themselves. Rather, the religion is in the motivation for pushing a poor account of the natural world into the science curriculum.
The point of the article is that whether or not Intelligent Design is a science or not (that is, regardless of which category we place the idea), it is a poor explanation for the natural world in any case.
However, I disagree with the author's position that it is difficult to define what is and is not science. There is one very basic requirement: a science must make specific, falsifiable predictions about the natural world. Intelligent Design does not. It cannot be called a science because it doesn't do what sciences do.
At any rate, I enjoyed the article. Thanks for posting!

i first noticed that no scriptural discussion of the choice is made, so it all appears to be solely the decision of the signatory.. when choosing alternatives of treatment, the witless merely initials his choice under clauses 3 and 4. since this simply indicates choice, full signature and witness are not required.. .
now clause 6:.
"i consent to my medical records ands the details of my condition being shared with the emergency contact below (cong secretary recommended) and/or with member(s) of the hospital liaison committee for jehovah's witnesses.. .
Clarification, please.
1. Can anyone confirm which country(ies) this new card has come out for?
2. Can anyone please provide a scan?
3. Has the service meeting to introduce this new card already happened?
Thanks,

well, 2005 is drawing to a close, and that means its time for another edition of sng's annual report.. i have quite arbitrarily decided that our jwd year ends on december 15, and using the member directory, i have extracted a few statistics.
this past year, 4973 new members signed up for a new total of 21081 members, or a 30.9% increase.
our increase of 4973 breaks down to about 414 new members per month, or (using the society's published average of 65 publishers per congregation) approximately 6.4 congregations a month!
LOL...Ozzie, I knew you agreed with me. I was just replying to the potential objection that you pointed out. I'm a bit tired today so my clever-writing circuits aren't firing correctly. :) (I know, I know, here it comes: "What, you mean they normally are?")
