Sheeplike behaviour?
by boa ink, i just have to relate one of the most ridiculous situations i've ever been in and it happened at bethel.. as most of you know, they have a monday night wt study.
(this makes 3 times you study the article if you prepare for it, attend monday, then again on sunday - jeece!
) since in canadian bethel there isn't enough room to have everyone in the kh they have there, they put others in 'satellite' rooms and hook up with video/sound.. anyway, one night, the study had ended and we were moving on to the song when the sound kicked out but the video still worked.

The gospel allusion to Christ like ones being sheep was well chosen.......blindly following everyone else regardless. It should have been lemmings but the gospel writer didn't know they existed.

by zen nudist ingen 2:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
gen 3:4 and the serpent said unto the woman, ye shall not surely die: [from eating of the tree].
gen 3:5 for god doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

JW's in fact donate these machines to hospitals and medical institutions on a regular basis.

I would say it was a longshot that the two are related but who knows.
Is this now WT policy? Are their hundreds of these machines in hospitals all over the world donated by concerned JWs trying to extend their life without offending their consciences. All at $100,000 at a time. If the Org did donate towards the cost of each one, they would be condoning this type of treatment, which goes against earlier statements.
As BluesBrother noted
I have only learned what I have from the internet , where things are explained
Most JWs stay away from the internet, or if they don't, stay away from apostate sites (another conscience matter), so how do they know that it's sort of OK now? I can imagine my JW mothers face if she was ever faced with the option to have a autologous transfusion - she'd wave her Blood card about frantically and die with an unblemished conscience.
Sad.

I always thought that the Bible's view of blood was one of respect for blood as precious to God.
LyinEyes, this was my opinion. It was so sacred it had to be poured out on the ground!!
Actually, it is now permissible for blood to be taken to another location, treated, returned to the patient's location and reinfused.
Right, so this down to conscience. Everything is a conscience issue. Whether you want to smoke, fornicate, take blood or even run naked through a Circuit Assembly. The difference is that some things you can be disciplined for - smoking, fornicating, while others you might be just depending on how the doctrine is viewed these days - organ transplants in the 70's, cannibalism then but today it's OK. Wasn't the criteria about how others might be 'stumbled' by your actions. For some old fashioned, staunch JW the thought of a blood transfusion, whether with their own blood or not is abhorent and that would be a cause for stumbling. I've been out of the faith for 20 years and this surprised me! When it does finally become a conscience issue, watch the WT move the money one way and the responsibilty another. This will be bigger than 1976 ('cos Armageddon didn't come in '75).

According to some quick searchs (cheers sKally), Red Blood cells are prohibited. This machine cleans up the blood and you get transfused with your own Red Blood cells.
But I'm still unsure on the transfusing of your own blood is allowed. Can anyone shed any light?

This will turn them into a "secret" society. They will still practice the religion underground.
Back to the Illuminati perhaps? A secret handshake and a trouser leg rolled up before the final prayer at the KH. hehe.
Banning a religion strengthens their religious fervour - they all like a bit of persecution - it keeps them keen, gives good PR to the world and keeps members in other countries on their toes. As to money, they will consolidate their affairs in Russia, perhaps appeal with the help of the UN or some other religious freedom orgs and rake in the donations from JWs world wide. Perhaps setup a seperate contribution box, like they did for Malawi (I seem to remember).

Accidently came across this news article from the Scunthorpe Telegraph :
'RECYCLING' COULD CUT BLOOD SHORTAGE 12:30 - 12 April 2004
Cutting edge technology for 'recycling' blood could soon be used to alleviate blood shortages in North Lincolnshire.
A procedure, known as autologous blood transfusion, is already used during operations at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre, where a patient's blood is retained during an operation and cleaned before being given back to them. And the hospitals trust which runs Scunthorpe General Hospital, has access to a Cell Saver 5 machine for carrying out the same procedure.
Instead of blood being washed down the drain during operations, it is collected and passed through a machine to clean it, before being returned to the body - no donated blood is required.
Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust has a machine which was donated to Diana, Princess of Wales at Grimsby by the Jehovah's Witness community in January.
Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in blood transfusions, and this machine represents an alternative which is acceptable to them.
The machine can also be used more widely to benefit all patients, including those in Scunthorpe.
A spokeswoman for the trust said: "We have an autoblood transfusion machine which was kindly donated to the Trust earlier this year by the Jehovah's Witness community in North East Lincolnshire.Anyone got any info on this?
I was under the impression that a transfusion of recycled blood, regardless as to whether it is your blood or not, is forbidden. If so, is this an apostate act and would the JWs concerned by disciplined?
How on earth did the JW community manage to raise the money for this unique machine? Boot sales, tombola after the meeting? Would the CO prefer it to go into contributions box? Would the guys in Ridgeway, London have sanctioned this? Is this publicity stunt?
