How do you know that the Faithful & Discreet Slave is a group of people leading an organization and not just anyone who teaches others about the bible? And how do you know that the scripture referring to the FDS is a prophecy and not simply an example of how their will be good slaves and bad slaves or good people and bad people.
About the whole child molestation thing...they have changed their policies. It no longer requires 2 witnesses to the same act to take judicial action, they can use 2 seperate accounts in order to take judicial action. For reporting to the authorities they rely on the state law and whether or not it requires it...last time I checked only 13 require it (when this is the case they need only 1 accusation.) So a more pointed question would be why do they need the state law to tell them when to report accusations of child molestation?

on fairly short notice silentlambs sent out an advisory to the public that jehovah's witnesses were once again going to court to speak as character witnesses for a convicted pedophile.
earlier in the week on monday a large group of jehovah's witnesses had made known their intention to come to court as they had for the last two years to publicly support and offer character statements for a man convicted on several counts of molesting his daughters.

Bad news about the house. : /
by Elsewhere ini have been holding off making a public announcement for awhile because i have been waiting for all of the paperwork to become official... but the company that is building my house has been dragging their feet, trying to delay the inevitable.. the bottom line is this: i won't be able to buy the house.
when i was doing contract work, i was making x amount of money.
i had anticipated a pay cut caused by my becoming a permanent employee, but the pay cut turned out to be more substancial than i had anticipated.

Buy the house! Scared money doesn't make money!!! Seriously though, depending on where you live, you should be able to make good money if you bite the bullet and buy the house. Is it possible to rent it out? Can you live poor for two years and sell it then (no capital gain taxes then?) I bought more house than I thought I could afford just over a year ago and now it's worth almost $200,000 more. The easiest money you will ever make...

I'm sorry, it didn't register with me that he was already convicted and this is a technicality to appeal the decision. That's ashame. I don't live in California, otherwise I might attend out of curiosity and to show support to the victim.
What is it you require before you, or anyone for that matter, gets off their apathetic and cynical highhorse and does something to effect change?
I could do without the disparaging remarks. You don't know jacks**t about me or what I have been through. You don't know how many days I've already taken off work to attend court cases on molestation for people I know. Perhaps you should come down off your self-righteous high horse and slow down on the judgements.

I'm sorry, but this doesn't seem right to me. It bothers me that the JWs would appear in a case where they have no idea if he is guilty or not, simply because he is also a JW. But it would also bother me to support an alleged victim without knowing anything about the people or the case. I don't understand this whole idea about rallying around anyone who alleges they were abused, without any substantial motivation for belief.

That is the "article" I remember reading, thanks for posting it. I knew it said something about B-Days being bad, and we all know that all it takes is for the society to say "bad light" and B-Days are a no-no. It's funny how contradictory it is. I've often thought about other things in the bible that have been cast in a "bad light"...dogs is a good example...can anyone think of any others to help point out the contradiction?
