What a disappointing cup....Italy plays mediocre through the whole thing, only to sit on a poorly played final and win due to the luck of PK's! Hoorah for Zidane....played tremendous! and got to leave with a POW!

by morwen inya know... i'm a bit amazed at times at how utterly out of touch with reality jw's can be.
here's a little bit of a background of what's been going on....
i've been having an on going issue with my jw family about my husband & i(and our 4 young children) no longer going to meetings and us having questions/problems with this religion.we are not df'd nor da'd (at this point) but have not been to a meeting in about 7 months and have been inactive for probably 3-4 years now.we haven't lived near my parents for several years so they have been a little "in the dark" so to speak as to us being inactive but we kinda were given a bit of "lee-way" since 5 yrs.

Your story is so similar to that of me and my wife. The bit about "Why are you doing this to us?!?!" is so common. I'm glad you didn't let her get away with transfering her responsibility of her decision to cut you off. It is good to make them realize that they are choosing to judge people and sever relationships, because that does not come easily when loved ones are involved. That is what triggered me to start looking into my beliefs as a JW. Good luck!

Are you a fan of Ayn Rand works and/or Philosophy?
by Eyebrow2 ini have done a lot of reading of rand's fiction, and have been reading a lot about her philosophy over the past several months.
i attend a local study group on her philosophy, and my family and i often attend get togethers that a local objectivist group puts on once or twice a month.. i am interested in talking with other ex witnesses that enjoy her work, and may be interested in discussing her philosophy.
i won't call myself an objectivist just yet, because i still am studying the philosophy.

I've read Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged and Anthem. I am NOT a fan of her philosophy...but I'm not quite clever enough to fully explain why. The simplest way I can put it is Ayn Rand does not seem to have a soul. To be honest with myself, it is more than likely due to the fact that I am very altruistic and have a need for approval in most aspects of life...but I like it like that.

Inactive people, who show up only for the memorial.

God is only 6 years old (in God years) and he has been grounded to his room for the last two weeks for the mess he made on Earth. That is just as "conceivable" as the Trinity doctrine or the bible in general. If God is a trinity...he obviously did not care if humans knew it or not. This is made obvious by the convoluted mess called the Bible.

with this information from graysons' book " assyrian and babylonian chronicles" grayson 1975. i will be able to show my step father (elder) the contradictions and misquotings of the wt.. btw during my 2.5 years of studying with him(stepdad) i really held his feet to the fire on 607 so much so that he actually went on line and ordered graysons' book that the insight book quotes.. and during one of our studies he opened it and was disapointed to say the least.. so i would love to have this information on hand for a little chit-chat about the wt misuse of graysons work.
the specific scan would be from graysons' assyrian and babylonian chronicles 1975 page 100 and 102.. any help is appreciated.. ew

Eduardo, thank you for putting this matter so clearly. Obviously there are some completely delusional apostates who grab on to any string of hate they can muster without using reason. If it wasn't this, they might discover some other convoluted connection to dirty money. The WT would have to do full background checks on every donation for some in this lot to be satisfied.
I mean to get technical about it, you would also have to figure out how much of that donation came from the Philip Morris stock earnings (probably a fraction) and then on top of that, how much of the stock earnings was due to cigarrette profits being up as opposed to the other products under their umbrella.
This whole topic is ridiculous...and any secret agent trolls at bethel who are assigned to monitor the apostate underworld (from black helicopters in the sky) would laugh their ass off about how much time people waste on this s*%t. In other words...WHO CARES...stick to what you know people, there is enough wrong with the WT, you don't need to waste time on junk like this.

Not bad for us...it's been close to 2 years since we have been to a meeting. We usually get calls around the CO visit...and before the last one they tried really hard to meet with us, saying they just wanted to visit. But after about 3 attempts of reaching my wife (although continually asking for me) and failing to schedule a meeting, my wife finally said "We know where the KH is, why do you need to visit" and he finally said that they had heard some rumours about us and wanted to see where we stand. So she told him to call back another time...but he didn't. They tried showing up with the CO at our door, but my wife was on her way out.
Recently my wife went to a funeral and sat right in front of an elder who was in our last hall but never said more than a couple words to us when we were active (it was the funeral of a mutual "worldly" friend.) He then had the nerve to start asking her about what she is doing with her life as the funeral was starting! My wife was furious that he would use that time to start talking to her and quizzing her on her inactivity....but never said a word to her during all the "upbuilding" meetings we went to. What a dolt!

This is such an often asked yet ridiculous question. Answers are completely subjective and the funny thing is most people don't realize that, they really do think they know who is the best.
If you are strictly talking about influence on other artists, then I would agree that the Beatles probably hold top rank.
If you are talking about record sales, then who cares, because 90% of the people who buy music don't know s%#t about music anyway.
If you are talking about strict musical talent, than its probably some band no one knows that plays every Friday in a hole in the wall bar in the middle of nowhere Alabama...and The Eagles probably couldn't hold a candle to them.
And just because you don't like Bob Dylan, don't assume it is because he can't sing...do us all a favor and just assume it's because you don't get it. We all know he isn't an opera singer, but that's not why people like him.
