Molestation Policies in OTHER religions

this aside, it seems that many are intent on attacking the jws over their lack of such a policy.

1) No other religion orders its child molesting members to the people's doors.

This is a situation I still have trouble with. However, I currently feel that if a person is free, despite allegations of child molestation and despite the secular authorities investigating, then I can not expect a BOE to investigate him further and label him a child molester. I imagine if they did, they would be held liable for slander and defamation of character. I think a lot of cases need to be dealt with on an individual basis and cannot be covered by blanket rules.

Under the current policy, this does not happen. If you are referring to those who are being DF'ed in relation to the Dateline show, they are supposedly being DFed for "apostate" stuff. I don't know the details of these so I can't say if this is true or not. However, in Bill Bowen's case (no offense to Bill) from his posts on this board, he seems to be very much against the Watchtower Organization and intent on their demise. I get the strong feeling that if they were to reform their policies to his satisfaction that he would not return to the religion. That would be his choice. But at the same time, it seems as if they would be within their rights as a religion to excommunicate him.

I can speak of my own experience...I am currently supporting a victim and attending the trial of an accused JW child molester in support of the victim. I have not been expelled or counseled in any way.

It seems that the JWs current policy about dealing with cases of molestation are even more strict than many other religions. Check the article at http://www.courier-journal.com/localnews/2001/02/04/ky_chur.html

If that is the case, why single out JWs? Why wouldn't you campaign for all religions to update their policies?

When these concerns for abused children come from those who also seek the demise of the entire Watchtower organization, it is hard to determine if they truly want a reform to protect children or if they are simply using this as a tool to destroy an organization they bitterly despise.

No they are not. His video is exhibited on a webpage entitled:

Hellooo...you had to finish the sentence, OKAY!!!!

Yes, and since he talked about how JWs educate people about child abuse through their publications it is completely relevant to the topic it is listed under on their web page.

Again, if no one disagrees with what he said, then there is not much about this video left to discuss.

What the h**l has that got to do with the POLICIES Jehovah's Witnesses have in place regarding molesters in their midst?

His video is listed under the title "Education on Child Abuse", not "Dealing With Child Abuse—Jehovah's Witnesses' Policy", so his statements are completely relevant.

What do you think about what he says? Is it true or not? Being so interested in digging up his credential and the fact that you "like the several reviews that describe him as 'naive'" makes it seem as though you are bent on disagreeing with anything that is pro-JW. I have nothing against finding fault with JW teachings, but these findings have much more validity if they are not drowned out by countless hacks at everything pro-JW.

i had a revelation today...and i thought i'd share.

it hit me all of the sudden this morning as i was leaving my house around 615a.

you see, i'm walking out to my truck to get to a 7am doctors appt.

Motherhood is a tough racket! I try to share as much work with my wife as possible (a 4 yo girl and 5 yo boy), but seeing how she works at their school and is with them all day, she gets the brunt of the work...and it is a lot of work! Sometimes I am glad I am the one who brings home the bacon.

I can't imagine single motherhood...keep up the good work.

i have been very curious about a few things and knowing your willingness to help out us "weak" ones i have a couple of questions.. 1. are you allowed as jws to visit boards like these or is a matter of conscience?.

2.do you tell your fellow brothers and sisters that you come to this board?.

1. Are you allowed as JWS to visit boards like these or is a matter of conscience?

Everything that is not a Biblical Law is a matter of conscience in my mind. There may be a lot of conventions in the Organization that the majority, who don't like to think for themselves, embrace. However, there is a minority that balance these with their own biblical conscience.

2.Do you tell your fellow brothers and sisters that you come to this board?

No

3.Do you count your time preaching on this board as service hours and if so, do you let them know where those hours came from? And do you count reading what other people post as service time too?

No, because I don't preach on this board. I sometimes defend and discuss, but never preach.

4.Do you feel this is a good place to get your spiritual food and that coming here is bringing you closer to Jehovah and his organization?

Certainly not, but it kills the gaps at work.

5.Do you think that you may plant something in someones head that will change their mind about the organization, perhaps something they have not heard a billion times before when they were in the organization?

That's not my purpose, but who knows...

6.Have you ever considered that if the people here wanted to hear what you have to say, ummm they would ask one of you?

Well this is a discussion board about ANYTHING related to JWs. Have you ever considered that if anyone wanted to hear what you have to say they would start a thread called "MarchOn, let's hear what you have to say!"

You know, "don't call me, I'll call you". Trust me when I tell you, we could all find a JW pretty much anytime, whether we want to or not.

I think that is a testament to their desire to offer the word of God to everyone.

7.Last but not least,have any of you tossed around the idea that you just might be brain washed?

Brain washed is a good buzzword. We are all brain washed to some degree. Very few of us have "original" ideas or thoughts, so we are "brainwashed" by other influences. Not being "brainwashed" requires being very open minded and entertaining thoughts you disagree with. So, yes, there a lot of brainwashed JWs....and a lot of brainwashed Catholics, Protestants, and even anti's (members of this board.)

The JWs who post on this board are a definite minority. Any JW preaching is very minimal. You confronting this minority and trying to scare them off makes it seem as though you are brainwashed to the opposite extreme and that you are not open to anything a JW might have to say. Take a chance, there is the actual possibility that you can learn from one of them.

He was seen walking around with the wife...cast free! Sounds well enough to boot a ball to me.

It seems that England has a tough group to start with. I'm not quite up on National teams, but I know Nigeria worries me.
