  i loved the recent topic asking what each of our screen names means.

  great question as i have always wondered about quite a few of our screen names.

  as i was reading the responses, i looked at holey cheeses - king of the juice's avitar and thought about how i have been wondering for the past three years, what the hell that is a picture of.

  i have a jw friend who thinks her husband would look better with facial hair.

  (omg, it would improve his face!

  i remember once a visiting elder came and gave a public talk with a full heavyweight beard, i remember it being talked about, but i think the conclusion was that it was because he had some skin issue or some mark on his face that he had to grow it and it was acceptable, but he was an elder nonetheless.

  i'm flying back to the uk tomorrow and i haven't been back for around a year, not sure how long i will be staying but it will be cool to get back to fish & chips & bad weather!!!.

  i read on a thread (englishman's barbie thread) that there is an apostafest going on in july (17th), so hopefully if it is still going on and i can get there, i would like to come and meet some of you people!

  putin pressed over jehovah's witnessescombined reports .

  a leading human rights organization has appealed to president vladimir putin over a court's decision to ban the activities of jehovah's witnesses in moscow, calling it a serious failure of the judicial system that could increase harassment of believers, mosnews.com reported.. the international helsinki federation for human rights urged putin in an open letter to meet his "international obligations" and set the record straight by addressing the issue publicly.. the ban came into force on june 16, when the moscow city court upheld a district court decision prohibiting jehovah's witnesses from engaging in religious activity under a provision that allows courts to ban religious groups that are considered to incite hatred or intolerant behavior.

  jehovah's witnesses spokesman christian presber said at the time that the ruling would prevent the group from renting premises for worship, holding bank accounts, or otherwise supporting their religious activities.. there are about 10,000 jehovah's witnesses in moscow and 133,000 nationwide, according to the group.

  Avon's not illegal in Russia, is it?

  pffahaha, non profit avon selling!

  i think it's good that they are banned, i'm sure it will turn a lot of them into hardcore jw's, but if they stay banned, and they ban them throughout russia, i think a lot will disperse.

  it would be great if sites like this and information available to english speaking jw's was available to all those in non english speaking countries and developing ones. maybe if we had details of these 10,000 jw's we could give them something to do and target them with the real truth, and real life stories of ex jw's.
