The Great Apocalypse (Sparlock Book One) hit #1 on Amazon UK (Metaphysical Category)
by DT ini realise that the metaphysical category for free ebooks isn't a huge category, but, as a new author, i'm still excited about it.
it also hit #7 in the free psychological thriller category (amazon uk) and it is appearing on other amazon bestselling lists in the united states and other english speaking countries.. .
this book is partially a satire of sparlock the warrior wizard.

Resistance is NOT futile!
by Bonsai inall i want from this life is to be able to wash windows at bethel.. my story.. when i was fresh out of high school and pioneering, i said those exact words to my friends and family.
all i wanted to do was be at the core of the organization where it was the safest.
i gleefully told people that i'd gladly spend the rest of my life washing windows, waiting tables, doing laundry or cleaning bathrooms.

Sorry they gave you such a hard time. My wife is still a believer too, and like yours, she has seen enough evidence to know it is not true, but still believes anyway. Like you, I have given up on the idea of her waking up - if she ever does, it will be a pleasant surprise. Like you, we try to avoid talking about religion, and it is working out OK. Not ideal of course, but we still have a good, strong marriage. I hope things work out well for you. -

How Many JWs actually Watch JW.TV?
by Oubliette ini'm curious.
what do you know from your own experience and talking to other active jws?
i know from my own informal, non-scientific survey that most jws do not watch jw.tv.

I have scientifically verified that my wife watches it. -

It is just the opinion of men, not a religion...
by punkofnice inan elder in my congo gave a talk.
he was always interesting to listen to and one of the nice guys.
(the nice elders are always targets of the bully elders, no?).

Hey punk, I remember that CO talk with the Star Wars reference, so that must have been during our overlapping™ time in the same congo. I didn't know about the earlier talk/counsel though. MW was/is such a nob. I remember some people gossiping disapprovingly after the CO talk, but I thought it was cool. I was already mentally on the way out at that point though (in fact, the whole time I was in that cong). -

The International Bible Students Association has issued an urgent product recall for the October 2015 public edition of the Watchtower magazine in the UK. Several copies of the magazine were found to contain demons, having been infected after a worker at the British branch office attended a yoga class. The worker has now been disfellowshipped, but the IBSA reports that contaminated magazines had already been shipped to congregations across the UK.
Branch office spokesman Andrew Morris IVX said: "This product recall affects the printed public edition of the October 2015 Watchtower only. As far as we are aware, it is not possible for demons to infect digital copies, only physical media. We are therefore asking everyone in the UK in possession of a paper copy of the magazine to destroy it and ask their congregation elders to print off a replacement copy downloaded from the JW.org website."
The following instructions on how to safely dispose of demon-infested items were provided by the branch office:
1) Do not give the infected literature to another person, as this may cause them to become possessed by the demon.
2) Burn the magazine in a metal container.
3) Bury the ashes at least 3 feet (1 metre) deep.
4) Mark the burial plot so as to avoid accidentally exposing any part of the possessed material.
If the magazine will not burn, it is likely that your copy is possessed by a particularly strong demon, and additional steps should be taken:
1) Pray over the magazine, making sure you say the word "Jehovah" out loud at least 3 times (it is a known fact that demons hate to hear the word "Jehovah", as do most people, and will usually try to flee when they hear it).
2) If the magazine still will not burn, you probably don't have strong enough faith - seek the assistance of your local elders, who will pray with you.
3) If it still doesn't burn, the service committee should immediately contact the circuit overseer who will provide further instructions (and a can of kerosene).
Those who have already read the magazine should look out for any symptoms of demon possession, such as things going bump in the night, or being molested in a sexual manner by an invisible presence while sleeping. Anyone who suspects they might have been possessed should seek professional help. -

JWism retaking control of wife's family
by The JHWH ina situation regarding this religion has developed which i fear might have negative implications on me and wifes lives, and i'm looking for thoughts and advice in how to approach the situation.
i'll start with some background information to enlighten the situation.. i'm a male in mid-twenties, raised secularly, married to an ex-jw woman (on paper still a jw though), who's been raised in the jw religion, although somewhat untheocratically shall i say.
for instance her mother has 5 children with 3 different men, all non-jws, and has had many other relationships as well.

The JHWH:
Maksutov – I don't expect JWs to behave rationally, I learned that when my wife was mentally still in. I do however expect that someone thats never been a JW, thus having no emotional attatchments to the religion, to be interested enough to do some basic research on the subject if he has a loved one with heavy affiliations with the religion.
And I also expect that any outsider with half a brain and even a touch of honesty, regardless of whatever hardships he/she maybe facing, will see the self-evident; its a cult. A lie. Failed predictions, lying about its own history, lying about scientific research(ers), lying about other religions, denying real phenomena, harmful and dangerous policies – if this isn't an obvious hoax then I don't know what is.
From a JW i would expect denial and spinning issues but not from an outsider.I think that is true of most people, but for someone with a close relative in the cult it is a bit different. Take my FIL for example. While he was working, running his own business, he had colleagues and friends. When he retired, he had nothing but a wife who was busy going to meetings and on the ministry. No friends, no purpose in life, and a fear of death looming. It was a more attractive prospect for him to join her and get his own needs met, than to critically and honestly investigate. He, like most who succumb, does not care whether it is true or not, only whether it makes him feel better than he felt before. There are none so blind as those who don't want to see.

I've been to Yaxley clay pits, near Peterborough - found some ammonites, belemnites, gryphaea, and another type of bivalve. Next up is King's Dyke (just waiting for an access permit), then I'll probably try and take a look at Hunstanton. There are sites all over the UK, but those are the ones nearest to me.Xanthippe 13 hours ago
Fossil hunting really? Where do you go? How interesting. -
