It's curious that I've never known a JW who had a problem with eating animal flesh. Well bled or not, don't you think that people who view themselves to be so very superior would naturally eschew the products of such a cruel industry as factory farming? I guess they reason that this is just one more thing that Jehovah will take care of in his own good time. Nothing like the JW philosophy of life to excuse rampant apathy, inaction, ignorance, stupidity, and an apalling lack of compassion for all that lives...

JW's DO eat Blood
by Yerusalyim inwhy is it that jw's are so big on this no blood thing, yet still eat blood in their meat?
the dubs i know claim to "cook out" the blood, but this in no way meets biblical standards.
in fact the way meat is slaughtered doesn't come close to meeting kosher requirements in the bible.

Very Important Question
by FiveShadows ini was very freaked out about this little ...epiphany last night...wondering if anyone else figured this out or not?
your in a room, you see two doors.
one in front and behind you.

Sounds like growing up a JW, doesn't it? All that you can be sure of, or all that you are told you can be sure of, is the WTS. Having come to your senses, scaled the wall of apostacy (hee, hee), and run like the dickens to SANITY, you find yourself in this room, (this forum, perhaps?), taking a much-needed breather. Behind door number one: everything you knew, all your 'friends', your 'family', your 'faith' - (you can get it all back - at a price - condenscension, humiliation, 'counseling', the pity of idiots, self-delusion, self-denial, depression, etc., etc.); behind door number two: a healthy, human existence, in which you won't have all the answers the WTS so readily provides. This is where you find yourself when "waiting on Jehovah" just doesn't cut it anymore, and inaction and apathy are poor excuses for a human existence. The sinister voice? Not yours, certainly!

Welcome Charice! I don't get back here as often as I'd like. (Might have something to do with being stuck in front of a computer every day...hmmm....) This family is SO MUCH BETTER than any you'll find in the WTS.

Help a lurking dub with doubts
by undercover ini've been lurking about, checking out some of the evidence against the wtbs.
i am currently inactive but still an approved/baptized member.
i have seen all the 1914/607bce evidence; the blood transfusion quandry evidence; the current child abuse problem evidence and several other things that are damning to the wt doctrines.

Welcome Undercover! Just my two cents....Do you realize the courage you have to post here? I had a computer for nearly FOUR years before I even entertained the notion. And exploring was the BEST. Your gut instincts are correct...and you don't need anyone's words to validate your curiosity or doubts. I haven't checked out any of the 'classic' anti-witness expose' texts, nor do I care to at this point. I KNOW WHAT I KNOW. And that gut instinct I have always had, even when it was a tiny, quiet little voice at night, was RIGHT. And you are too: RIGHT to exercise your RIGHT to listen to your tiny, quiet voice. You deserve a hug...so here's a hug {{{Undercover}}}.

WT Speaks Out On Apostasy
by stevieb1 inthe following quote is taken from the september 15, 2002 edition of the watchtower, p.16-18:.
"in the first century, such individuals as hymanaeus, alexander, and philetus, were advocating ideas that did not fit "the pattern of healthful words.
" (1 timothy 1:18-20; 2 timothy 2:16,17) how could the early christians avoid being led astray by apostates?

I haven't the energy, or the interest, to debate the WTS's manipulation of Scripture. Seems the wide world is far too compelling to allow WT drivel to occupy my gray matter on a permanent basis.
But with regards to their treatment of WTS victims, I have this to say: KARMA WILL WIN OUT! The vermin will get theirs one day. With any luck, it'll be soon.
Another thing: I pass by the local KH on the way to work every morning just after 7:00am. Whenever there's a car in the lot, I can't help but wonder what reply those people have been instructed to give should a householder inquire as to the WTS's current 'pedophile difficulties'. More to the point, how can anyone with an ounce of sense or compassion 'work' for an organization that supports and shelters the sexually violent. At every door they probably pray to Jah that no one's home....

Quite ironic. Hubbie (never a JW) and I spent some time this morning tidying up one of the spare bedrooms. We unearthed a stash of JW propoganda, much of it inherited from my family. I've been thinking I'd like to do a cleansing ritual this autumn, bonfire and all. But then, I can cultivate a bit of the greedy in me. But, as some have already posted, might that not be somewhat unethical to the unwary who, stumbling upon the stuff, get taken in by what they read and get REALLY STUMBLED!!??!!

My mommy doesn't want me. . I need a hug

well, i got a very unexpected response.
she basically said "no".

There's no easy answer to this one. Perhaps your mother just can't face acknowledging that you've created a life for yourself apart from the JWs, and, secretly, envies you. You have made a life for yourself and sought a wealth of opportunities for supportive friendships outside of that suffocating and abusive organization. It is also possible that your mother views your pursuit of a sane life as abandonment of her. Please -- whatever you do -- don't let her current treatment of you erode your self-image, your courage, your dreams. In time she may come around. If not, you will have been true to yourself. Always remember: you did for yourself what many will never have the courage to do. And that, ultimately, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR HAPPINESS -- NOT YOUR MOTHER'S. Sending a GREAT BIG HUG TO YOU!!!!

Can owning/reading apostate material get me DF'ed?
by PandaJ inhello, first time poster, long time reader.. i was wondering just what my title asks.
if i own/read/admit to apostate material, can that get me df'ed?.
i know better then to admit that i believe the apostate material to the elders, or that i disagree with the society's teachings, but will simply admitting to owning and reading them get me df'ed?.

Let's put it this way. There are more 'free thinkers' in the organization than are willing to reveal themselves. And rightly so. Letting your true feelings show is the DEATH KNELL to your being accepted/tolerated by the others in the congregation. Some, who "grow up" in the JWs learn early on to conceal their intellect. I did. Still, with time, you may develop the courage to explore life on the outside less covertly. And what a world it is! Scary at times, disheartening too. But nothing is more disheartening that discovering that the people you put your trust in, who you have been taught to believe ALWAYS have only your best interests at heart, are caring for you in a CONDITIONAL WAY ONLY -- the condition being, you do and think and feel whatever the Society tells you is correct. Understand that, once you depart -- in word or deed -- from the Society's standards, you're BAD NEWS. And it is quite possible that many whom you trusted, befriended, or confided in will turn their backs on you. It's an ugly truth.
