We get it perfectly, YoYo. You may believe this scripture applies to us, but we thing it applies to your evil, destructive cult. End of story. Don't waste your breath.

Let's meditate on these scriptures
by YoYoMama in2 peter 2:1-22.
2 however, there also came to be false prophets among the people, as there will also be false teachers among you.
these very ones will quietly bring in destructive sects and will disown even the owner that bought them, bringing speedy destruction upon themselves.

Disfellowshipping: A protection in the end?
by Esmeralda inwell, the year is nearly out, and as the new one approaches i'm thinking back on 2 years of being in the online exjw community and, in june 2002, my four year anniversary of my df'ing.. when first i came to h2o seeking comfort and support in january 2000, i had been df'd for a year and a half and online nearly 4 years but never had the guts to type "jehovah's witnesses" into a search engine.
that search led me to freeminds (thanks, randy *hug*) and then, to h2o.. what a journey its been.
i've gone from devastation at losing my family, to anger, through the anger to numbness, back through sadness, and now after much soul searching and a chance change of circumstances last summer, come to look at my disfellowshipping in an entirely new light.. those who know my history know that i was born into the borg, baptized at 12, married at 19, and was a very loyal, unquestioning dub until the age of 24 when the elders told me that my miscarried babies had no status with god.

Excellent post. And as Amazing said above, you always have such a positive attitude about life and a lot of insight into situations, which are qualities that I would like to cultivate within myself.
Also, it's funny that you said that being DF'd has been a protection for you because I was just thinking along those lines the other night. Since it has been many months since I've talked with my dear mother, I've been writing her a letter. And in it, I stated that disfellowshipping has been a great blessing to me because I have finally learned to give MYSELF unconditional love. Now that I don't hear meeting parts about how we need to do more, and now that I don't have people looking over my shoulder all of the time, I'm finally learning exactly who I am and what I like. Even though it was difficult in the begining, finding my "true self" without all of the rules and regulations of the WTS has been the most awesome experience of my life. I wouldn't trade what I've been through for the world.
I'm glad to hear that you are experiencing as much happiness as I am.

As soon as I get my scanner working, I will scan pictures of myself. I have been told about 50 times, often by strangers on the street, that I look like Britney Spears..LOLOLOLOL I know, I get a kick out of it every time.
There are some resemblances, by there is no way that I am anywhere near as pretty as Britney. She's a babe.

Why are witnessess persecuted?
by YoYoMama inwhy are witnessess persecuted?
most religions out there have this thing against witnesses.
many will do anything to get them banned or to shut their mouths.

Freddy Boy:
I realize that Jehovah's Witnesses WERE persecuted in the past, such as in WWII by the German Nazi's, etc. I think that it was downright horrendous for ANYBODY to die due thier religious conviction and for not serving an evil, twisted man such as Hitler.
What I am referring to by the JW's "bad treatment of other people", is by the way they treat those who do not agree (for example, shunning we "apostates"). Just because we once were Witnesses and chose to leave for good reason, we are now labled as being evil. We turned away from a religion that was personally very bad for us, mentally, emotionally, etc. and we get cut off from the people we love the most? That is downright fucked up.
For god's sake, we live in a free world/country. You are given the choice to practice any religion you want, which happens to be the Jehovah's Witness religion, so let us do the same and worship god the way we want to. You only get degraded by apostates because of the way you persecute US, then you turn around and act like a victim.
This may be a hard concept for you being as brainwashed as you are, but one size DOES NOT fit all when it comes to religion.

Ummm...OK, Yo Yo Mama. That's not the point that everybody was trying to make. I've always respected you and thought you made some good points on occasion, but that answer is downright ignorant. That isn't what anybody said at all. I think it is better summed up by saying that Witnesses are persecuted because of their treatment of others.
But of course, you are going to believe what you want to believe. Witnesses get persecuted because they teach from the bible, while other religions are persecuted because they are Wicked. Whatever....

Unfortunately, I don't know much about the best places to see in England, so I would probably just have you take me to all the coolest pubs in the country. That would be considered a dream vacation to me~lol.

Wow, puffsrule, you live in "ritzy" section of Columbus!!! I've only been to the New Albany area once, but boy was I amazed. I have never seen such huge, elaborate houses.
As for me, I am currently residing in the German Village area. If you haven't been there, it is a cute section of town about a mile south of downtown Columbus. It has brick streets and brick cottages, but is entirely overpriced and full of crime :( All of we Columbus residents need to meet up for a beer someday.

Silliest thing that Witnesses told you was wrong?
by gilwarrior inthere are two things.
in the early and mid 80s there were witnesses saying that the cartoon characters the smurfs were not acceptable for witnesses.
i had two smurf cartoon books and my mother made me throw them away.

Here are the ones that I can think of right away:
We were never allowed to wear denim skirts to the meeting. It didn't matter if they were modest, just the fact that they were GASP....DENIM, made them inappropriate to wear to the hall. I had an elder's wife corner me in the hall when I was 10 yrs old or so and give me a 15 minute lecture about how disrespectful my denim skirt was.
Also, we had a CO for a few years that would preach from the platform that sister's skirts should be AT LEAST two inched below the knee, no shorter. He preached it like it was written in the Bible somewhere!
And last but not least, the JWs I knew sometime preached against songs that "sounded" demonic. Their lyrics might be OK, but by god, Satan was trying to stumble you with it's demonic sound!!! When I was a teenager, I was into Alice in Chains, and I especially liked that song, I stay away, if anybody here is familiar. When my mother heard the "demonic sound" of that song, she comfiscated my CD and tossed it in the trash.
