They may win it, they have the potential to do so. What annoys me is how everyone bigs up Brazil prior to every tournament, ok they scored a good goal but in my opinion they looked average as a whole. Its always the way that teams who are solid defensively are never given enough credit compared to those teams that can score a spectacular goal or two. I think England have a good balance and so should do well. My bet though would be Germany.

Why I belong to JWD
by Jez inmy jw sil doesn't approve of me being on this site.
she has compared it to a black person having a friend that is a member of a anti-black community.
where else can you get so many varied opinions about a religion that i grew up in, would have died for, have family members that are members of, have questions about myself and find answers to some tough questions i have?

Seriously, they`re burning down our embassys now.
by Hellrider inthe cartoon-rage continues.
in syria, protesters have now burned the norwegian and danish embassys to the ground.
the latest news is that they are rioting in copenhagen, denmark, where 200 moslems have stormed the sentral station (the railwaystation), and throwing bricks and rocks.

Anyone else have UC or Crohn's?
by slimboyfat in.
i have been on the toilet for about four months now (with brief interludes involving the non-toilet world)

Not only in apostate land Slimboyfat but right here in Bedfordshire. I was diagnosed with UC. about four years ago. Ulcerative Colitis really can be an unpleasant illness at times but on the whole I have it under control. The funny thing is, that it was colitis that lead to me leaving the witnesses. Having a stressful job, meetings, field service and an illness that took away all my reserves something had to give. I took some time out and the rest is history.

WHAT IS QUINTESSENTIALLY ENGLISH?
by Dansk inthis is actually something that fascinates me and i'd like your own opinions on the subject.
i list here things i feel are quintessentially english (with apologies to the scots, welsh and irish as they have their own uniqueness).. first of all, it's got to be a cup of tea (yes, i know it wasn't originally made here, but it has become an integral part of 'englishness').. cup of tea.

A similar discussion to this one is on another board (Football based) I am following. I thought this answer was quite funny.
“To be British is to drive a German car to an Irish themed pub to drink continental lager, to leave and pick up an Indian curry, Chinese rolls, Turkish kebab or Italian pizza. Then return home and watch American TV programmes on a Japanese set while talking about footballers from across the globe.
And the other thing about being British?
Suspicious of anything foreign.” -

Is Dawkins the answer?
by Peppermint ini watched the second part of richard dawkins program yesterday evening -the root of all evil?- i really have enjoyed this program and have found dawkins to come across as genuine and humane.
the problem i have with the program is that i do not want to believe his point of view, but i am feeling more and more drawn towards it.
the point i notice most about his stance is that he feels religion and science just cannot sit side by side, you have to believe one or the other.

Thank you everyone for the responses given , they have been very helpful to me.
Dave,
I enjoyed your story and look forward to the release of the book. Plants before bees you say, one more thing to look into.
RodentBoy
You comment about his words being taken out of context by the JW’s and to imagine how he must feel and how he must react. This is the point I was making about what drives him, I would feel happier reading him if he was impervious to it.
Abaddon,
Your post is thought provoking and one I will digest as I study the subject further. The link you provided: ARGUEING FOR GOD-What is the argument from religious experience? Was excellent. Thanks.
Little Toe,
Your definition of a fundamentalist is how I view it. I am happy to see that you are able to retain your faith and recognize Evolution. You are in a place where I wouldn’t mind ending up, but time will tell.
Tetrapod. Sapien,
I love this board, opinion varies so widely here, and its only when you get differences of opinion that you truly start to think about things and analyze your own beliefs. As a Witness I was open to nothing and really did not think. I learned things but I did not think. I am sure this is why Dawkins sees Religion and Evolution as incompatible. Thanks for your comments and the link to the Blind Watchmaker.
Gaia girl,
I appreciate the reading list. I did manage to pick up a copy of Unweaving the Rainbow yesterday, not sure if this is a good place to start, but it was all I could find. I am 40 pages in and so far very good reading. The only problem with it, its yet one more book in a growing pile that I am having to find hiding places for when I have certain visitors…oh well.
