lately, it seems to be that people are on edge and are forgetting common courtesy in their posts.
people have told me that they were thinking of un-subscribing or at least taking a long break from the board due to people who take their negative opinion of the subject or opinion being discussed, and turn it into a personal attack.. what is happening here?
any idea why this sudden spike in overbearing rude people posting here?
I guess it all depends on how a person takes the response from someone else. IMHO, I thought things were kinda dull at times. But if you would like a good discussion, I am all game. People who get inflamed with discussions, don't bother me. We have a right to express ourselves. We should be glad they feel safe here with all the friends, who most of them came from the same messed up place.
It's ok to feel angered by what has happened in their life, it's their way of healing. That is where unconditional love comes in. (something that wasn't thought in the borg)

as i was returning home yesterday, i noticed an elderly lady sitting at a card table next to the security line.
immidiately, her "my book of bible stories" jumped out at me.
her table was covered with printed propaganda.

Sorry, Puternut, but that line of reasoning doesn't hold water IMHO. If she were to rope in an unsuspecting woman who then by becoming a JW brought about the destruction of her family because of it, someone would get hurt. That is the bottom line here; witness beliefs break up families and hurt people including children. I'd rather make a bit of trouble for those spreading the poison...
Many people offer many different things. I have been a witness for over 26 years, and I know the ropes of the borg. But we all take responsibility for our own actions. We can choose not to accept. Jw's are no different from other religions and do 'secret' things behind the scenes like the rest. Before we make any choice we have the responsibility to check things out before we choose.
Would we be doing the same thing if we saw a Mormon or the Hari Krishna at the airport? Or are we simply vengeful because we were a dubbie once. I am by no means endorsing what they teach. But we can be bigger than them by our example of 'acceptance' toward other people.

i was just wondering the other day about the bible, in a different manner than i usually would (inspired by god).. it is like if i were a atheist, or something........ so what is the bibile?.
is it a rule book, that we must follow?
a guide we reference to enrich our lives?
Paperweight?
Other than that I don't know. Wars are fought in the name of religion. JW's use it to fight against the world and other religions. The bible is full of war stories fought in the name of religion. So do we need any religion which leads to wars? If there was no religion, would there be as many wars?
You be the judge.

The poor lady is merely doing her job and counting her time until Armaggedon arrives. If that is what she believes in and gives her hope until she expires, who are we to make trouble for her?

898.3 on the first hit. But got lucky will all the mines. Poor thing, there's so little left of the little guy.
Puternut
i personally don't think so.
the reason why i say this is because we don't know where our conscious thoughts come from.
what i mean is,,that before a thought comes into our consciousness where was it and why did it come into the conscious?
Wow deep stuff, let me smoke a bowl with ya. And I'll catch up to what mean............ brb.
Puternut
do you feel it?.
i feel it, almost every day, and sometimes so intensely that it literally wakes me up in a cold sweat at 2 in the morning, just to toss and turn for the next 3 hours, like a pig on a spit.. that damnably frustrating anguish about so many things: the "what ifs," the "could have beens, "the should i have...??".
on the one hand, as an ex-jw, i can, and do, easily find a certain satisfaction in saying to myself "it was that god-damned religion in which i was raised.".
Craig, you just made me feel better. Now you know you're not alone.
