I see nothing wrong with the concept or the practice. I know people who were already together who chose to include others in a sexual and good friend types of relationships. Some had bad endings and some have continuing good solid friendships.
I think it would take very special people, who would not allow suspicion or jealousy, to make it work. And if they can...who am I to judge or nay-say what works for them. Somebody mentioned "culture" as a problem...if people weren't under such pressure to conform, especially to religious mores...maybe it would work successfully for more people.
In any case -- as long as it does no harm to me or mine or children, it's OK with me if folks want to voluntarily experiment with new things.

*sigh* I was a Witness for 35 years, my then wife (now ex) and I did just that -- refuse a blood transfusion for our newborn baby. Thru the extraordinary skill of several doctors, not Gawd, our baby survived. But, the WT had "plans" to allow us to 'kidnap' our child and spirit it away to a "JW friendly doctor" in a another city hundreds of miles away if it looked like a transfusion was imminent.
The WT GB Gods lost that sacrifice, but years later...my JW mom died in a perfectly good hospital...needing blood. The WT beliefs smothered her to death.
It's weird...I carry grief and guilt over those 'no blood transfusion' encounters...my ex-wife and other family JW's are proud of the parts they played.
And...they would do it again...

coombe faces 1m bill over transfusion case.
thursday, 8 may 2008 17:29. the coombe women's hospital is facing a bill of over 1m for costs over its successful high court action in a recent blood transfusion case.. the case centred on whether the hospital was entitled to administer a necessary blood transfusion to a female member of the jehovah's witnesses faith, against her wishes.. in a landmark ruling last month, ms justice mary laffoy ruled the hospital had acted lawfully in getting a court order allowing it give the transfusion to the 24-year-old woman, who may be identified only as ms k.. the court also set out guidelines as to how hospitals, the courts and the state might address similar situations in the future.. the case was before the judge again yesterday to decide issues of the multi-million euro costs of the 37-day hearing.. the judge rejected applications by both the hospital and ms k to have their costs paid by the state.

Interestingly, Ms. K gets on the stand and said that JWs understood that Coke and Tomatoes and Eggs were good blood substitutes as they helped build blood, provided iron, and energy. The JWs looked like fools.

Within a few hours of the storm subsiding, more than 30 members of the Bethel family commenced clearing huge trees that blocked the roads nearby the branch. People stood by simply amazed. As the Bethelites continued working, a truckload of 30 soldiers arrived. Three soldiers got out of the truck each with a small hand axe and started clearing some trees. However, the other 27 soldiers simply stood by holding their machine guns. When a journalist observed this, he asked: "Who is this group of people that work so effectively compared with the government soldiers?" After being told, he remarked: "I wish more people showed the true community spirit like Jehovah's Witnesses do!"

I don't know how the laws work, but, it seems to me the WTB&TS ought to foot the bill. They came up with this insane, deadly teaching.
I HOPE Mrs. K's lawyer was JW INC. provided, that way a link exists. Another option is for Mrs. K...saddled with a 6 figure legal bill...turns around and SUES her Congregation AND the Watchtower !

today is their first wedding anniversary.
yes, a year ago we were at renfest, with butterflies hovering and a slight sprinkle of rain, watching as xena and little toe were married.
it was beautiful and i hope they are having a wonderful anniversary!.

1. The bank HAD that much money on hand.
2. His GF's mother's account could cover it. (And wouldn't mind sharing)

Another dumb Ft. Worth bank robber, a few years ago:
A robber walks into a bank on E. Lancaster Ave. (across the street from a Police sub-station) in August. With a ski-mask on. A pistol in his hands. It was over 100 ° outside.
He quietly took his rightful place at the end of a long line. (His mama must have taught him not to cut-line, as that is rude.)
Miraculously, the guards, customers & bank employees noticed 'something' was not quite right. They called the police, who literally ran across the street and held-up -- the hold-up artist !
That's why you always have to have a business plan.
Prison life must be a surprise everyday for these guys, ya' think ?
