Why the warm welcome?

i've caught it...the "welcome bug" and you are all to blame.

when i posted my story on here everyone jumped in and said welcome, and that was probably the most healing thing i've experienced...or at least the first time in forever i felt good about a choice i made.

so i caught myself doing it today, see a newbie saying hello...and then i have to say welcome.then i asked myself...why?

I came here and 'lurked for a couple of months, then finally got up enough nerve to post...a year ago this month. Even tho' I had been inactive for a couple of years...the dyed in the wool belief that JW's are indoctrinated with is a very big obstacle in our brains. The brainwashing is so strong that we "have no where else to go..." and "if we DO go to an apostate site " some BAD will happen". I half expected a demonz to jump into the back of my neck!

It is hard to believe I was so naive..(hey, that rhymes)

The welcome I go was very warm and they were patient with my 'scary newbieness'. My welcome and the posts I read, made me know that the crises I was in at the time, was actually well experienced by MANY people. That was sad, too.

But, I knew now, I was not alone in that 'debris field' of post-war with the WTS.

Other people were there...walking around stunned & shunned like me. Then there were the kindly Medics, leading us out away from the landmines. They started bandaging us and telling us, "you'll be OK...really".

Things ARE better, not great, but, better,

Possible Apostates here on JWD

about a week ago it was brought to administrations attention that there may be apostates lurking on our board, as a precautionary measure we deleted 107 members who had never posted since they joined.

this morning sadly enough our attention was again directed to a possible apostate within our midst.

i don't mean to scare the pants off you fellow jwd members but it's been brought to the administration's attention that there may be apostates lurking on jwd, too.

Whew ! I was just a little green a year ago when I made those comments above, wasn't I ? I was very nervous about being here..after all Big Brother, the WTS said "NO!" Verbotten !

Reading this will sure make me think twice when replying to 'Newbies'. The nicest thing I saw was how warm and patient you all were with me. I was kinda abrasive. And I got back understanding...y'all had all been there...you knew.

this is for those of you who sent me a private message saying you dont believe me, your letting your old jw traits come out, you know, not believing things when the facts stare you in the face unless it comes from the org.

maybee you should go back and re join them.. to confirm what happened .

i was at a john denver concert in the uk many years ago, he asked all catholics to stand up, after he got them seated he did the same with church of england, then the same with a couple of other religions, after he asked all jw's to stand up he announced that the concert would not go on untill they had all left and he then left the stage.

Plane Design Faulted In Denver Crash

John Denver's fatal plane crash apparently resulted from faulty ergonomics.

The popular singer died on Oct. 12, 1997, when his small experimental plane plunged into the Pacific Ocean just off Pacific Grove, Calif. According to investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board, the crash was the culmination of a series of small mistakes. But the key factor seems to have been the decision by the plane's builder to place a fuel valve switch in a hard-to-get-at location behind the pilot.

Denver's final act apparently was to reach behind his left shoulder to switch the plane's engine from one fuel tank to another. The uncomfortable stretch caused his right foot to press against the right rudder, according to a final board report. The aircraft -- a single-engine Long-EZ -- pitched up, rolled to the right and slammed into the ocean.

George Petterson, the board's investigator-in-charge for the Denver crash, appeared in a board video showing what it would be like to turn the fuel switch in the cramped cockpit. His pretzel-like pose, coupled with the involuntary movement of his right foot, proved persuasive to the five-member board.

The plane had no flight data or voice recorder, so investigators had to piece together their account of the plane's final minutes.

Denver's aircraft was the only Long-EZ ever built with the fuel valve in that location. All 1,200 of the others -- based on a design by experimental guru Burt Rutan -- have the switch on the console directly between the pilot's legs.

Texan Adrian Davis, who built the plane from the Rutan plans, told investigators he put the switch behind the pilot because he did not want to have fuel lines running into the cockpit, especially down where they might rupture in a belly landing. In truth, investigators said, Rutan had accounted for that possibility by strengthening the fuselage below the fuel switch.

Some of the links in the accident chain were not Denver's fault. One was his stature: He had to have a cushion behind his back to allow him to reach the rudder pedals. This also meant he had to stretch farther to reach the fuel switch.

The plane also was new to Denver; he had just bought it from its second owner. And investigators believe he was unaware that he was so low on fuel.

"He must have exhausted the fuel in his left tank," said investigator Ron Price.

Witnesses reported the engine sputtered as he climbed away from one of his practice landings. Denver likely made his final stretch in an effort to switch to the right tank, which had fuel remaining.

Experimental and amateur-built aircraft like the Long-EZ are not subject to all the rules of the Federal Aviation Administration. The safety board recommended that the FAA, the Experimental Aircraft Association and insurers cooperate to "strongly encourage" pilots of new experimental planes to undergo formal training, which is not now required.

The board also recommended better markings: The plane that Denver flew did not even have a marking on the fuel selector switch to indicate in which position the engine was drawing from the left tank, which from the right tank, and which shut the fuel lines altogether.

No, not teasing at all. This is probably the safest board for newly exiting or questioning JW's.

All of the people that are x-jw's that I consider my friends, that I have met in person or on-line have been from this board originally.

I always loved John Denver and his music, I still do.

Back in the late 60's & early 70's, "Peace & Love" was an important thing to a lot of people, including myself...who hated the Vietnam War. Denver songs reflected that. He also sung songs about the rape of our environment. He held on to hope that the earth could be 'saved' and be 'natural' again.

For this idealist, as I was studying with the JW's, John Denver SOUNDED like he would be a perfect candidate to become a Witness himself.

I knew personally several Witnesses, that had sent him all kinds of WT literature. Offered him Bible Studies! Multiply THAT by other young JW's all over America...and the world and you could see why that could be very irritating. I heard from people I knew, his Fan Club asked them NOT to send religious stuff anymore. I did not SEE those letters.

Young JW's as we were, I thought we could help 'save' the world from themselves. Imagine...if we could get John Denver to become a Witness? All the hippie and environmental type peeps might come join us !

So, with JD going thru all the constant attention by the JW's...I could fully understand how he could lose his cool and say "Leave! Shut-Up!"

I also have NO reason to disbelieve an eye-witness at a concert. Anything that could show news reports would be interesting, too. Has anyone checked his Fan Club? I'll bet there are die-hard fans that know everything that might have happened.

Hi Rabbit, my apologies as regards the previous statement, it was made with regard to the fulfillment of Hitler's purposes for the Jews and Gentiles alike.

No, no...you've no reason to apologize at all. With all the things you said, I understood you were not limiting what Hitler did to just the Jews.

When I said "Remember..." I meant that as a 'closing' remark, that was for people that may not be as familiar with 'who' Hitler hated and 'what' his real agenda was.

And I put it in the wrong place -- right under something you had said. I apologize!

i was recently disfellowshipped for being involved in a relationship with another female.

its been hard for me especially since my family no longer has association with me.

Shunning is such an un-Christian thing to do, especially to your own familiy. I hope, like some here, your family will learn to accept your sexual preference/orientation as openly as you accept...theirs.

This may be the largest motherboard and very diverse, too. But there are others. I post at 2 more...one I would not recommend. The other I would recommend highly. At this point, we are not allowed to tell you it's name.

This board is where I first landed, I could not do without the people here. I hope you stay and make some friends. If you need support for just about any situation...someone has probably had experience and can help.

Z, I am so sorry for your wife's family. Thank you again for posting this subject.

Prophesor, although my views about what God has/has not or will/will not do have changed tremendously. I would LIKE to believe He cares, but, I have little faith anymore that he does 'interfere' with mankinds doings.

I do agree now, post JW, that Evil MUST be confronted by man. I agree completely with you in your statement:

Evil must be confronted and it must be dealt with. It cannot be allowed to fester, grow or spread. It cannot be swept under the rug, we cannot turn a blind eye to it, but it needs to be uprooted and and dealt with in the most effective means humanely possible, and where necessary, it needs to be destroyed.

We were taught to "wait on God" before. I now believe, that cannot be trusted. We must live today, not some 'promise of the future'.

The other very, very scary thing you pointed out was: Nazism started "in the mind of one human...and spread"

Remember, too...it was not just Jews, Jehovah's Witnesses...it was Gypsies, homosexuals and political dissidents, too.
