Way ta go!!!!!!!
Everytime I'm at the dentist's office or the Dr's , I see those mags and don't have the guts to throw them out. Thanks for the encouragement! Next time, I'm gonna take them with me and throw them in the nearest garbage. Recycling is too good for them......am I being bad?

Welcome JV!!
I feel for you. Don't stay where you're unhappy. You'll regret it someday. I used to run alot and they frowned on that. They didn't want me to join any of the fun runs in the area. I was supposed to be studying all the time and if I had time left on my hands, I should be going out in service. They control everything you do. I hated it. Running was the only thing to deal with all the unhappiness I felt at the hall. It helped to clear my head. Good luck to you and again, welcome!

Oh I feel for you......
Yes, the religion makes little children afraid.....like I was. It's got to be so hard to watch. I don't have any brothers and sisters who have children, but I can understand how you must be feeling. Don't you just wish you could close your eyes and make a wish and change things? Oh...how easy things would be then. Love that little one and show extra special attention. They will remember that......my thoughts are with you,
sincerely,

Elders do love to talk!
The ones that I was involved with ( bad girl that I am) loved to gossip. One of them was a regular at work in all the back room gossip sessions. He knew everything about everyone in town. Makes me wonder if he told everyone about me. It's supposed to be private, but is it really?

Are you a people person or a loner?
by Strawberryfieldsforever ini've heard that there are people who thrive on being with people.
they gain energy from it.
then there are the loners who gain energy from being alone.

I agree that the net is easy to talk on. I don't feel like I'm being looked at or laughed at or even made fun of. This board , I can come out of my shell without leaving the house and I can turn it off anytime. I really am a hermit. If I were the last living person on the planet, I would be just fine. I mean that! I entertain myself. Maybe thats alot of the JW upbringing. We learn to put up that invisible shield to keep ourselves from hurt. Keeping everyone at arms length has been my life.

I think for me that a couple of things led to the slow fade. The one thing was when the CO came for a visit. I had worked all week on this great sermon. My mother came to my hall to go out with me and hear my new sermon. I thought it was really good and she told me..."yes, it was good, but you need to improve on alot of things...". I was so upset and decided right then and there that I was never going to be good enough for her or the organization. The second thing was at an assembly when the speaker was talking about being on a ship. If we saw our children leaning over the edge and looking at the water and wanting to jump off, we should push, shove, or yank or anything to keep them on the ship! I was sickened by that. Encouraging parents to do anything from letting their children be part of the world. I couldn't take it anymore and started a slow fade which lasted about 4 years. I'm so glad to be out of there!

I've heard that there are people who thrive on being with people. They gain energy from it. Then there are the loners who gain energy from being alone. I myself am a loner. I find it exhausting to be with others for a long time. It saps me of my strength.
