I write a lot of posts to this and other boards that never see the light of day. My word processor save directory is full of them.
Over the years I have found that writing things out helps me deal with issues and problems. It also helps me analyze my opinions and way of thinking. I have found re reading some of these posts and other that have made it out for public viewing is my own personal little diary of sorts. I have watched myself grow and change through my own writing.
Venting through posts, well I think we all do that, it can be very helpful though.

do you ever write posts but not post them?
by dh ini find that i do it a lot, often to do with politcal threads, i read some of the stuff people write and i want to rip into it so badly, of course because i know i am right all of the time and everyone else just thinks they are, so i write a post, then i read it and don't bother to post it... i figure, why destroy everyone elses illusions that they are right?
that just wouldn't be nice.. sometimes i spend a while writing a long post, then i just hit ctrl+a followed by space bar, and back in my browser... does anyone else do this or is it just me?
i am particularly interested to hear from other people who like myself are right all of the time but would feel guilty about shattering everyone else's illusions.

What was the silliest thing they told you NOT to do?
by goddess_baal inthere was some really piddily-crap that i remember.. for instance, when i was about 17 toe-rings became popular, and one of the sisters bought one....wore it to the kh during the summer with her sandals.
my best friend in the hall wanted one, which of course caused this huge debate about whether it would be okay 'in jehovah's eyes', and didn't it go against the scripture that counsels women against "bodily adornment", blah-blah-blah.
toe rings??!

Not to go out in service with bare legs as a sister. You *must* wear panty hose. Why? Never figured that one out.

Just for fun, let?s speculate
by Jahna inmy husband saw a trailer for the shroud of turin a few days back and came up with this one.
if we could test the dna of jesus, what would we find?
remember, we are a product of both our mother and father?s dna.

Remember, we are a product of both our mother and father?s DNA. Medically this is a conundrum.

What Do You Stand For?
by Corvin inhonestly now, either you stand for something, or get knocked down for nothing.
brother, it seems absurd to be hammering pith like a poet with a loss for words.
trying to describe and angels face .

demonized!!

I find it amazing that the JW?s have more instances of demons then anyone else, even those who dabble in things like witch craft etc. According to my mother everyone in our family including her have been battling Satan, sometimes not once, but twice or more! I also notice the stories change every time they are mentioned.
I also find it funny who they get a whole bunch of stuff, then sit on pins and needles waiting to see if ?anything happens? if it does, they toss out the stuff they like the least, and keep the best, low and behold, demons gone!

A Rural Trend?
by Dan-O ini was talking with one of my brothers recently, and he commented on something he's noticed while travelling.
he noticed that a lot of kingdom halls seem to be popping up in rural areas.
i know that a town in the next county built one outside of town a couple of years ago, and the kh in my own town has a 'for sale' sign on the lawn.

Here in Canada, even school boards are looking at rural areas because land is alot cheaper, so it becomes more affordable to build. With costs so high now a days, it makes cents.

Passing the time at JW Assemblies
by Leolaia inlove_truth, in describing the utter dullness of jw assemblies and conventions, just gave me an interesting idea for a thread.
what were some of the ways you tried to make the hours pass?
some of mine: looking at the interesting refracting patterns the arena floodlights made on my eyeglasses when looking thru them at an angle.looking for people i knew from my congregation and others in the mass of people in the arena.counting the number of people leaving the section to go to the bathroompractice writing people's names in elvish scripthaving a conversation with friends a row behind me by passing notes back and forthseeing how many pages of my bible stick together when i slam a wad of gum in between its pages.. what else?

Humm lets relive the last few assemblies I attended. Got three kids dressed and out the door, feeding the baby several times before we got into the car. Stood in line at the doors in the wee hours so we could get decent seats with three kids, baby in arms with book bag, diaper bag and small ( to fit under the seats cooler) in tow. Two kids are beginning to whine now because of the heat and humidly at 8 am.
Find seats, they are pretty good, only 15 rows from the top of the stair, (no seat saving going on here) will make my day be that much better as I get up a half of a billion times. Walk around now to kill time with two kids in tow and baby in arms. Sit down tired, feet sore and whining kids, waiting to sit and listen (for a change) to all the spiritual food. Have pencils, paper, and my book of bible stories ready for the older two, and hopefully the baby will sleep (in my lap) so I can take notes.
By 10:30, I have been up three times now, the baby needed to be fed, diapers changed, got back to seat and the 4 year old needed to go to the wash room. Finally getting a chance to sit down for a moment. Baby begins to whine and being given ?those? looks, so up again to the corridor going to walk the baby to sleep and get even more nasty looks from the attendants.
By lunch I have walked the halls, spent two hours in a smelly men?s room (nursing mothers room) and counted how many urinals there are for the guys compared to stalls for the girls. Visited the ladies room twice, once for my daughter and once for my son. During lunch argued with my ex on ?not sitting at your seat and paying attention? as he expects me to do, all the while trying to feed my kids ?wholesome? sandwiches in tiny seats without getting messy or spilling drinks because the sticky floor is where they will sleep, I hope this afternoon. Half of the day gone and I am ready to cry because I am tired and the two kids are bouncing around their seats, time to take them for a walk around a packed auditorium filled with masses of humanity.
After lunch one child goes to sleep, not the baby, he needs fed again, by the time I get back number 1 needs to ?go potty mom? dirty look to husband gets no where. Finally sit down baby spits up over everything, and number 2 is crying. Back to the mens room with other tired moms, our wilted hair and running make up speaks volumes about our day. Gee a wonderful spiritually delightful afternoon. We all try to make light of it as we all strain to hear the echoing voice of the speaker, over the sound system (term used loosely) the brothers thoughtfully installed for us. They obviously never thought about flushing toilets, crying/screaming kids or anything else, as no one could hear a thing, but we all pretend to.
By the time the final song comes around, I am ready to run, far far away, but lucky me, I have two more days to go. I argue yet again with ex over ?not sitting at your seats? or helping out with the children. I say to myself, boy aren?t we blessed it was a good assembly isn't it. Tomorrow will be better, and I will finally get to listen to that wholesome spiritual feast I say to myself. Or will I?

Copps was miles better then those outside events at London. My first London convention was the first one that banned strollers. It was very hot for me and my 4 mth old son.

he didn't seem to mind so he went ahead long his way.. .

Lie! Never, maybe stretched the truth a bit, creative accounting and learning neat new ways to prolong events. Like the Pioneer Shuffle. That is where you walk really really slowly in service. Counting houses in the car, before starting (great for keeping warm or cool). Telephone witnessing, great way to do the least amount of actual preaching work in any given time period. Also aids in drinking a lot of coffee Oh, the letter writing deal to add those little bit extra hours you may need while Pioneering. Writing one letter at a time very very slowly really racks up those hours. It?s actually rather amazing how many ?lost? hours you can find to report in a month.
Humm now how many times did I mention God?s name to Junior this month? LOL

Ok, Question: Was there a comment made at a meeting that finally convinced.
by New Castles inwas there a comment made at a meeting that finally convinced you, this is not right?
for me a couple of weeks ago was in the service meeting, they stated that if the children didnt finish their homework because they were studying the bible or at a meeting that teachers should understand that their meetings and study are more important.
i looked at my wife and went "what"??

For me, "Jehovah's people have love among themselves" At the end I always cried because of the lack of it. I still get teary eyed thinking about it
