This site has TV commercials for presidential candidates dating all the way back to 1952! You can see the famous ad from 1964 which cuts from a little girl playing with a flower to a nuclear explosion. There is also the notorious Willie Horton ad too. Watch it again and decide for yourself what you think of it. Do you remember seeing any of these? Did they make any impact on you for good or bad? I'd love to hear any comments you may have about this site. Enjoy, Andy (Shaft)

Kenneson,
There are 25 state quarters out right now. They are released in the order that the states were admitted into the union. So far they have done Delaware through Alabama. Michigan is next. I am excited because that is my home state. Andy

Was it Nixon or was it Humphrey? Did Wallace get any votes in '68? This is the site to find these election results and so much else. Anyone with an interest in American history or politics or both should take a look at it.
Enjoy, Andy

I don't see how Bush can win. If the Democratic candidate gets all of the voters who supported Gore and just a fraction of the Ralph Nader votes it will get him Florida and New Hampshire. Approval numbers don't mean much. Clinton and Reagan had low approval ratings going into their reelection year and won. Jimmy Carter had a 56% approval rating in early 1980 and he still lost the election. I also can't imagine Bush winning any state he lost in 2000.

I have collections of many different things. The first things I ever collected were albums, cassette tapes and later compact discs. I even have some eight tracks. Somewhere I think I still have an eight track of the Beatles Sgt. Peppers which unfortunately broke.
I have a neat collection of rock related T shirts. My favorites of those were given to me by FlyingHighNow and I was so delighted that she knew well enough to know how much I'd love a Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" shirt. She also got me a couple of Ramones shirts too. One with their band logo on it and the other features the cover of their fourth album "Road to Ruin" I even have two Kiss shirts!
I also collect the state quarters and these miniature coffee mugs with logos of NFL football teams. I have several Carolina Panthers...anyone from North Carolina have a bunch of Detroit Lions mugs they might want to swap? I also have a few key chains with football team logos and little helmets too.

I think the next president will be the Democratic candidate assuming that the voting patterns are similar to the 2000 election. In 2000 Al Gore got 48.38% of votes, George W. Bush had 47.87%, Ralph Nader 2.73% and Pat Buchanan .43% If the Democratic nominee can get all the Gore votes and capture the Nader votes it will give him a 51% majority and that would not only win him the popular votes but also get him states such as Florida and New Hampshire needed to win the electoral collage majority. If Bush gets his same votes (assuming he hasn't scared them away) as well as the Buchanan votes he will still only have 48.30% Therefore I think any reasonable Democratic nominee (in other words anyone but Dean) can win in November.

Hello everyone and thank all of you for the warm welcome! I joined last night right before I went to sleep and now I must be off to work. Heather (Flyinghighnow) always tells me about her posts here and I sometimes I tell her my opinion on the topic so she encouraged me to join the forum. I have to go now but thanks again for the welcome and I'll see all of you later.
Are you anything like the actor role in the movies your screen name comes from?
Well, I don't have much in common with Richard Roundtree but I am huge fan of Seveties soul and funk music and the theme song from Shaft is one of my favorite songs of all time. I also love the soundtrack for Superfly by Curtis Mayfield and in fact that album is rated my number one of all time. I also love parliament-funkadelic and ohio players too.
