it's been awhile since i've been on here.
due to death in the family, chicken pox in children and other nasty things.. i posted here awhile ago about things i had found the unsettled me.
i was due to have a visit from two elders and a lot of you gave me lots of help and encouragement.. well, the two elders visited and i have to admit that it was nothing like i expected.. they sat down, and told me straight away that there was nothing i could say or ask that would hurt me.
Blood saves lives.
I'm not saying that it doesn't....at all. It's just that it is a risky thing and I personally feel it isn't for me. Again, I can't say if I'm dying and they say that have give me a transfusion that I would say no cuz I've never been in the situation but I would try every other alternative.
well i spoke with my mom this past week.
she made sure to remind me that the memorial was coming.
she pressed me for a promise to attend.
I haven't even gotten an invite. :(

Here's another example....I said Happy Birthday....and I almost got sick. It was weird.

I go through that from time to time. The simple fact that I'm on this site...although i don't agree with everything, some things have opened my eyes to different things.

i'm a youngster, so i don't like the old cars as much as i do the new cars.
my #1 favorite car is (any year) ferarri f50, but a 1993.5 toyota supra comes close.......

My thought is...wouldn't you knock yourself out if you smelled that bad. I just don't get how people with B.O. don't know they smell.
it's so hard to choose, but i would have to say the theocratic ministry school was my most hated meeting.
the first few talks were a rephrasing of mind-numbing society doctrine.
then it was time to listen to a ten-year old read nwt to us........... #3 talks, don't even get me started!
Public talk. Our meetings started at 9:30 for a while and I had the HARDEST time staying awake. Especially if we had a "dry" speaker.

What are you talking about, they kill each other all the time, daily, it's estimated that 3 people per day die because of the JW's blood policy
There are so many blood alternatives that I wish people would stop using blood altogether. It really is frightening to know that you could get someone's contaminated blood. My aunt who is a nurse and NOT a J-dub and never has been will not take blood. I don't know if her feelings would change if it came down to it. But that is how she feels currently. What everyone is failing to realize that we all have choices and no matter what we all have to accept the consequences of these choices the people that died due to not having a blood transfusion died because they chose to not have the transfusion so it's not something that we can blame the WTS about.

I feel there are negatives and positives about every organization. I think ultimately you have to look at the reason behind why are you still going to the meetings and continuing to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Write them down...see what outweighs what. Also, if you still believe in the bible USE IT see how things are supported by the organization using the bible and see if it's a valid organization. I think if you allow what other people have done...or said how the elders treat and blame the ENTIRE organization on it. It isn't fair. A lot of people on this board (and I don't mean to offend with this) but they have been mistreated in one way or another. So here what may seem the norm may not be the norm. I feel for everyone that has had a negative situation with WTS. but the truth is there isn't going to be one place or another organization that is going to be all good or all bad. I know I'm rambling...but do research and then sit back and simply do what is best for you.
you know, the last little thing that blew your patience out of the water and forced you to face up to the fact that you were in a cult that doesn't believe in the bible so much as it believes in it's own power structure?.
for me it was beards.
stupid i know and possibly the most trivial of things to be 'stumbled' over but to me it was the epitomy of what was wrong with the witnesses - arbitrary rules poking their noses into the lives of people where they had no business.
Well I won't say that the camel's back is completely broken. Just a little strained. But, the whole judicial committee and discipline process. I mean why do you have to go into such great detail? Then, where in the bible does it say that my mother should not talk to me? The fact that a religion can have such a great hold as to break a mother and daughter relationship up just baffles me.
