what are your plans for this long week end?
sunday meeting, or field service?

He's LOUD. BOOMINGLY LOUD. I used to take the phone and put it 3 inches from my ear while conversing with Cygnus. He reserves his quiet voice for the cats.
..............the tread about giving up smoking, made me think.
they usually can give you a time scale of how long it takes to give up smoking, i know its different for everyone, but usually 6 weeks and youve cracked it, 3 months and you hardly think about it.. what about drinking, is there a yard stick of how long it takes you to break the addiction.
ive decided to stop for a month, they reckon its a good test.. ive stopped drinking during the week( about 3 months ) and drink only fridays and saturdays, but i must admit by thursday im really chomping on the bit for a glass of wine.. so this week will be my first dry weekend for about 10 years, im excited but also worried that i cant do it.. the problem is i associate drinking wine, with relaxing and welcoming the weekend.. .
heh, no no not you

yes, and thank god i never had those. my friend who was about 50 before he died of alcohol poisoning would quit drinking about once a year. he'd get the dt's BAD. they looked like the worse flu i've ever seen. poor guy.

You'll be fine. You're probably too young to get the dt's from quitting. Association is the hardest part, and once you have that licked, it's a piece of cake. After 5 years (with a year of relapse), I still associate fridays with getting ripped. Just make sure to keep busy during those times, and find something you really like doing instead. Being in bars might be hard at first, but you'll know what you can handle and what you can't. Good luck!
jesus said: "you are my friends when you do what i say".
lol.
i always had to laugh about that one.

The Skateboard Kid, here is a brief synopsis taken from Amazon:
This movie took three years off of my life. It was like a horrific car crash that I could not look away from. First of all, Dom Deluise is the voice of a magical talking skateboard. The only way you'll ever see his butt on a skateboard. Second, this movie forgot to have stuff actually happen! Enjoy the montage of the skateboard kid and skateboard playing baseball together ( oh, yes) and then watching a sunset together. There are homeless people on the street, and people sick and dying, but the producers of this movie decided to use their money not on important causes, but instead on this waste of celluloid because they thought they were making citzen kane, or something. This movie hurt me, but I could never hurt it the way it hurt me. With all that said, I say go out and see it anyway. Trust me, you will rate all other movies with this one. And you too will say, "Oh yeah, you think that movie's bad? You should see 'Skateboard Kid'!!!!" -Jody Corodey
Yeah the skateboard even had a face.
i have thought alot about this, and it seems to me that by the words and actions of the friends here in jwd there are many who are caring and understanding.
i seems when someone is ill everyone starts sending good wishes for a quick recovery for that friends here.
some even send each other cards and little gifts.
Don't know too many real-life apostates. The ones I found online like Skally and Mrs. Jones and some others from our old chat are definitely more accepting, kinder, and what's most important, honest. Jw's tell you what you want to hear until you finally seem to be buying into it. Apostates don't pull any punches, and don't make unkeepable promises about the future.
Skally who was THE Apostate to beat all Apostates back in chat, still talked to certain witnesses. The reverse is hardly ever true, well except online where they can't be caught. OR maybe they can, I don't put spying above what the organization will do. In any case, I know some nice jw's, I know some downright nasty apostates, but in general apostates have more desirable qualities.
when i look at myself in the mirror i see a different person than i saw a few years ago.
also, when i look at photos of myself from a few years back, i don't even know myself.
not that i look that much different physically -- it has something to do with the eyes.
Right now, someone who needs a shower, haircut, and a decent night's rest.
