  Correct, and remanded for that. They cannot force her to endorse gay marriages, but they can enforce a Court Order.

  I'm happy whenever discrimination against people who are causing no harm ends.

  DJS, you have a dog in this fight. I do not. When did religion push government to do their job and put gays in jail in the US for their "crimes?" I remember though watching on tv, a while back, "Christian" religion endorsing the execution of gays in other countries. JW would never try to prevent gays from getting married or to have them jailed or executed.

  You see Davis' action as gay "discrimination" because she discriminated by not giving licenses to gays, a very recent legal provision. But only about 69 days ago, the US government discriminated against gays . That discrimination was the law of the land (in some states it was ok)

  I have already posted that people should not use religion as an excuse for not doing their job, but in all fairness, that should apply to everyone.

  It is a circuitous tactic to get her for contempt, but not for refusing to endorse gay marriages-they couldn't, so they used the catch-all device.

  Did not know you were a dub. I am not a fundie. JW are not fundies. I told you it is not about gay rights. Who am I to try to prevent others from being happy. When people's actions to themselves offend me. I do not hate them. I feel hurt. Same as I would if it was a son or someone that I loved. If it was my son though I would try to stop him but not someone else. I would not stop someone from being happy--Unless their actions were harming me, like rights to smoke in a public place and I had to breath their smoke.

  I am trying to be objective too. It is not about the gay issues.The issue is should elected officials expect to have to violate their religion if it becomes law and should they have to when it does, because this is a disqualification for anyone that practices any religion.

  With clerk jailed, gay couple receive marriage license

  They were entitled to it by law. I've had issues with gov agency people not doing their job, I got my problem solved without getting lawyers after them or making trouble for them.

  Seems to me you are very happy and looked for it with anticipation. Were you also happy when not long ago gay conduct was a a crime in many States and government did not enforce the law.

  The woman was remanded for willful disobedience. But does anyone know if it is over for her?

  Sure it is.

  She is not upholding the law or her oath. That is fact.

  It is not a fact

  She IS only doing her job when she feels like it.

  You not being sure, remaining uninformed, trying to muddy the waters have nothing to do with the facts.

  The fact is she swore to uphold the law.

  She did not swear to kill her mother and father if it became law or curse God or violate her beliefs if they ever became law or endorse gay marriage licences.

  Yet another fact is that judges cannot do whatever they want.

  I explained to you what I meant by that.

  A final fact is that she in no way has to endorse a marriage to sign it,

  That is not a fact. It is your opinion. She has hers.

  As far as knowing whether or not her claim is invalid, she has lost every challenge and no more are left. She lost, her claim is invalid. Every single person who actually understands the issues grasped that. That you didn't, freely admit that you are uninformed on the matter and have made no attempt to bother to learn the facts makes your laughing little more than personification of the phrase "ignorance is bliss". And trust me, you were never arguing to win. Heck, you don't even have an argument. You've nothing but being uninformed and happy about that.

  So you are not a lawyer. I am not laughing. I only said that I would.

  In essence, you're why we can't have nice things.

  You hurt me. Sad If I am giving you the wrong impression about me with my posts. That is unfair to say that about me based on my posts and not having all of the facts about the person that I am.
