  What is truth?

  well, i have been lurking on this site for several months and i recently decided to join as a member.

  i have made several observations and would like to make a few comments.. first, i am perplexed by the attitude of many on this site that are either former or active (but apostate) jws.

  they seem to have a strong hatred for the wts and also for rank and file jws.

  JW were never guessing although that is what you write. A crossword puzzle is not solved guessing words either and the Bible can also be described as, in its entirety, an ironic poem. JW never wrote that they were ever inspired prophets only bible students even in their role as FDS they only claim that their understanding of the Bible is progressive ever trusting in God's Holy spirit for light. And it is in that spirit that they always taught what they believed was true at the time co-existing with the human element in all of this that God allows to be, same as when the Apostles and early Christians taught circumcision for a while and did not allow eating of owl and pork for a while until they got light on those doctrines. Nonetheless, the inspired Christian Scriptures is written in ink but record that the early Christians were not right about what they believed was true at the time and did not have a correct understanding even about the time of the end and neither did Jesus tell them what "coming quickly" meant showing up 2000 years later invisibly. I would have thought that quickly means at the very most sometime in my life time. If you need exactly what the Bible means in its entirety in one shot to have faith, ok, or maybe you are looking for excuses. I do not know. I have concluded that JW is God's org and that they have God's Holy spirit, and that God uses them in the role of a prophet sort of speak in the sense that they are doing God's work on earth today but they are not inspired prophets in the sense that their communication to others is not free from any human error and neither is their understanding of the Bible in its entirety. I suppose that the deeds of the congregations admonished by Jesus in Revelation and their beliefs based on their understanding of the Bible at that time can be shown as grounds to disqualify them as the Church had REV not also included that Jesus was part of them. The truth of God's promises recorded in the Bible has not changed and JW have done no wrong in trying to understand it and teach it and they trust in God to guide them with His Holy Spirit and not as the churches of Christendom do who resort to political devices and intellect instead of totally relying in God regardless of the outcome. Isaiah 41:26

  I thought you wrote on another thread that your father was a witness but that you were never a witness? Is it true?

  Witnesses killed my friend today.

  today has been a horrible day.

  what began as a day of joy finding out that one of my lifelong friends had her baby, turned into a nightmare when her brother called me to let me know she had passed away after birth.

  i was in shock and didn't ask how.

  It is always a tragedy when a loved one dies but especially so when the person did not have to die having accepted a BT. Kindly post the news article or any media coverage about this case as it becomes available.

  With all of the JW dying left and right as a result of not accepting BT for themselves or their kinder, we are going to be seeing a lot of these cases in the news same as the media coverage for all of those alleged JW child abuse cases in the UK and in California and we are also going to be seeing a lot of these big hospitals all over the USA that offer "bloodless surgery" close down and more hospitals that offer blood open, supplanting them.

  I have some friends originally from very poor countries. They told me that they have lost close relatives because checking in to a hospital they must pay for the medical supplies. The medical service is free but they either must buy the medical stuff the doctors need and bring it to the doctors or pay them to buy it, so the patient dies unless he happens to be lucky enough to be a JW that needs a BT. In such a case they will pump a gallon or 2 of blood into the JW to save his life -even if it kills him. I wonder if this is the reason for JW growth in poor countries. -But with JW fighting in all of these EU Courts of human rights (in he news,) people are just going to have to die for not having the money to pay to for medical supplies -no exceptions.

  Would a loving creator give humans the gift of free will?

  they say ignorance is bliss... well, i wish that god did not give adam free will.

  i am ok to not have free will if it means i will live forever in perfect paradisiac conditions.it has been explained that free will is a gift from god.

  they say 'who would want to live life like a robot?

  You can believe what the bible says all you like, prophets and all. That is not evidence for an existing god. And certainly nowhere near enough to say you have a close personal relationship with him.

  They have themselves changed the Bible, deleting certain scriptures that they had previously included in their bible is just one example.

  God has allowed mismatches in the various copies of the original Bible texts that have survived that are being used as the source text in Bible translations so a resulting version of the Bible from source texts is subject to what source text are used. The WT has qualified changes to the NWT by citing older source texts now being used and other reasons, but again, Bible translations rely upon various versions of ancient source texts. Knowing various languages, I will tell you that translation requires interpretation and for someone that does not know the base language and is only reading the translation is missing a lot of flavor, nonetheless, the substance is there. I am happy with the NWT. Keep in mind that you are not reading the Bible sort of speak but only an interpretation of what the Bible says from the copies of original source texts that have survived.

  No they don't. They qualify what they mean in the article that you refer to with the Scripture they cite in the article.

  This is what they conclude when there is ever changing truth. They get to choose what is right and what is wrong by their own interpretations. There are many examples of them changing their minds about what is right and what is wrong, I am sure you are familiar with some of them.

  No they do not. That is what you say that they conclude. JW do not decide for themselves what is right and wrong. They look to the Bible. What is true is that JW have sometimes have had to change what they believe the Bible means but they never decide for themselves what is right and wrong independent from the Bible which is what they mean in the passage you quoted above in connection with people they refer to as doing bad inspite of what the Bible has always taught is bad. Some people use JW change in what they teach as a pretext against JW so they can justify whatever they want is right and wrong . But JW have done no wrong in adjusting their beliefs in light of facts and clearer understanding. The Bible is written in the form of an ironic poem crossword puzzle and there is nothing bad or wrong in not understanding it all but trying to solve. If you have ever done a crozzword puzzle you know that you have to write with a pencil.

  It doesn't matter how deep it is in your heart. Your belief in something does not make it the truth. We all need to look at the facts not our own personal experiences.

  You are not reading my post only parsing. I qualified my statement that you refer to above explaining that believing deep in my heart that God is innocent in-spite of apparent evidence is because of my faith in him based on solid evidence and not based upon what I like to believe is true. Since I do not have all of the facts to know with certainty is why my hope requires trust. That trust is a risk that requires performance by God as I explained in my post. The solid evidence that I refer to is not only my personal relationship with God which is all of the the facts that I need to trust him but also Moses, the Prophets, Jewish history, Jesus and the substance of what is recorded in Bible translations. Notwithstanding any personal experience that I refer to in my post, I have concluded that there are enough facts to consider that favor God -but I do not know with certainty- and that is why I said "..deep in my heart.." in reference to God allowing human suffering after looking at facts.

  Non sequitur, WT has never taught that the truth of God's word has ever changed and neither does the attitude that they comment on referenced in your post represent that of JW.

  ALL religions are a cult. Christians worship Jesus (or Mary)

  You did not say ALL "Christians" so your statement is not all false. JW do not worship Jesus but view Jesus same as Jews viewed King David for example but even higher than that believing that Jesus is the" Messiah" so JW love and respect and esteem Jesus in is his Messianic role," the chief agent of life," without worshiping him understating that he is inferior to God (God does not assume the role of Messiah otherwise the messiah would be self anointed ).and appreciate his loyalty and devotion and obedience to Jehovah, as a fellow creature and also because of Jesus' self sacrifice that resulted in human salvation.

  Getting back to truth, "Truth that leads to eternal life" is a book that contained the truth back in time but today a lot of that information is no longer the truth, hence truth is not what people think the Bible says, however, truth is God's promises that never change and will be fulfilled when the time comes. -Revelation 21:4,5

  That is what you see?! You are not looking at what I wrote.

  Although evidence from God is a basis for hope, you would still need to be able to think (that requires faith) though to understand and to be able to see that hope realize someday; However, such striking proof is not the actual realization of some hope or answer to all of your prayers, it is only a guarantee that hope is plausible.
