Think for Yourself: Reform Judaism Uses JW Blood Issue For Shavuot

as the jewish holy day of shavuot (pentecost) begins this weekend, the reform judaism site publishes an interesting article entitled "judaism teaches: question authority, think for yourself.".

the article employs a jewish doctor's recollection of a jw patient who refused blood and died as an example of how both religious traditions greatly differ on how they see and apply god's law.. shavuot is the day jews recall god's giving the law to israel.

the article is significant in that it demonstrates how jews see the giving of the law as a call to questioning authority, including divine revelation itself whereas the death of the jw patient is contrasted as a slavish interpretation that misses the point behind jewish scripture.. for more see the article at:.

What you are describing are the Jews of the Bible that loved Jehovah's law-and not the Babylonians walking around today with "Shabbes keys" within their eruvs, mobbing, maiming, blinding, spitting at, and encroaching on the freedoms of Jehovah's Witnesses (missionaries).

It is well established by Christian interpretation of the Bible that the law ends in Christ, the seed of Abraham ("to your seed I will give the land." -as explained in the "Epistles.") The "jews," that is to say, the natural descendants of Jacob(and Rahab, etc), play no other role than that- a maginificent one indeed- (write the Bible and mother the Messiah.) in God's books. Modern Halachic jews in-spite of their adherence to their version of the law of Moses (no to brother-in-law marriage- yes to pilegesh depending on the Rabbi. ) have no role in God's wok. It is purely academic how Judaism today interpret the Bible, they have no authority and no Holy Spirit. The JW proclaim both. Judaism's modern version of Israel is a Republic who's Shomer is nuclear weapons and UN-hamstrung horses (mute ones) -and not Jehovah of Armies.

Anyway, that is my just view. We will see who's view prevails.

Destroy young lives through coerced baptism at a very early age

How about infant baptism,albeit but JW baptism does not destroy lives. Moral corruption, tobacco, "aloholicism" drug abuse destroys lives, thanks to BTH and the government too. Children of baptism age and younger can get arrested and prosecuted and jailed. Jw baptism aint so bad. You are angry at JW

How about sending young men to vietnam and then spitting in their face when they return? I have a close friend, not a a practicing JW, his infant child was diagnosed:need blood, he refused, they pumped the blood into the infant anyway, killing him shortly afterwards.

Destroy families with their evil shunning policy

Shunning is not evil when it is an attempt to change the conduct of a beloved family member on the road to death and depravity. I think that it is more the family practicing the shunning in an extreme way than the shunning doctrine itself. Some people are just fanatics (self righeous) and more papist than the pope.

How about the Family Courts in the US destroying lives and families with their decisons and powers of the court.. JW shuning does not destroy familes , more than 50 percent of marriages in the US end up in divorce resulting in orders of protection, child custody, divorce, visitation orders, etc. -and destroyed families. The Law wll kill or jail your child. The Jw wants your child to live healthy mentally, physically, and spiritually.THe purpose of shunning is to attempt to change conduct that is harmful to a person and to others.

The law cares about the law. After a death sentence is carried out, then it is ok to acquit. Too bad though that person was executed.

I think that the views and actions against JW are more extreme than JW practices.

According to posted information, it seems to me that church is behind this government attack on selected religions and because it is the church (apparently) that is behind the attack, it is going to backfire upon the iconic church. According to wt theology, BTH is fallen and lacks the sphere of influence it once had. Based on wt theology then, the iconic church cannot succeed against the wt. Although the wt is verbal against "false religion," wt does not have any political lovers to instigate against wt opposers. For over 100 years, wt claims to have trusted in God- and they still do.

my rant tonight is against the quasi religious apologists that post on this board.

those who at once rail against the jw's then later talk about how "orderly" and "neat" the witnesses are at their conventions.

those who site the benefits of bloodless surgery to some who have the luxury and time to actually make an educated choice, while ignoring the tens of thousands who've died because they happen to be in an accident or succumb to a disease for which there is no other treatment.. i understand the power of cognitive dissonance.

But why, under any circumstance, would you want to lend any credence whatsoever to an evil cult?

Angry words. Sounds like you want to get em! But what about the harm that Babylon the Great cult has done through out the centuries and even now -with their political lovers. JW can never be accused of that. As for Babylonians, Caesar ships them out and spills their their blood or pumps gallons of blood into them. Not so with JW. JW went down in history as among the greatest freedom fighters in the US ever (if not number 1), and wining more cases in the US Supreme Court than any other entity in US history, hardly a cult! and bloodless surgery is better than bloody blood. And JW training in analytical thinking and reading in the KH is better than Yeshiva and University and besides that proof is that God's Holy Spirit backs JW and that is what I would think even if I was angry with JW. 100 years of triumphant victory all over the earth....-except now that since JW core doctrine is based upon 1914, if God does not come to jw rescue, JW 1914 teachings will fall apart. But it ain't over until the fat lady sings and it ain't up to jw to predict the gt but on God to make JW predictions come true. Using up all dates after and including 1914, it truly is the end now for jw. Anyway, besides the hate towards jw, they aint evil and they aint a cult, anyone that was a jw can testify to that. Bizarre rituals of major religions are more cult like than the Bible learning at the KH, and the morality rules etc. of JW.

Whether that response is pedantic, helpful, playful, annoying or whatever probably depends on a complex set contextual considerations. But whatever the intent or reception, it is nevertheless a meaningful distinction that is being made.

Is it your opinion then that since the moon's light is derived that the earths shape could also turn out to be illusory?

Yes, the article says that AFTER the attack on religion happens, such attack marks the great tribulation, so the preaching continues until such time. Thanks for the supporting scripture that I requested to see the basis from.

Thanks for the article. There is a point there which states that the attack is also upon the wt and because the days are cut short on account of the chosen ones, (cutting short means that the wt escapes. as it plays out) the wt is not destroyed along with BTH-but the wt is still attacked together with her.
