IN THE US: It is not the legal duty of the church to protect physically. That is the duty of Caesar.
Caesar can pass laws making it a felony 80 years in jail if convicted or death penalty for a lawyer or judge or child or mother or father or jury or anybody to falsely accuse or prosecute or sue anybody for sexual child abuse.
Change US laws of clergy confidentiality as WT proclaimed in Court.
Legislation expressing that no sexual crimes against children will be tolerated by Caesar. No exceptions!
this would cripple the economy, don't know about other states in the union but it would.
be devastating for the border states.
here in california restaurants (no workers) closed, .
Illegal immigrants are more of a financial burden than an asset. The government could retaliate and strike back by stopping their food stamps and medical.
They could give this money to the small businesses to help them pay for legal workers or the gov could subsidize the salaries of legal workers to help the businesses that cannot afford to pay the minimum wages. And use the money to help Americans in general. The American well farewell is dry.
this was sent to me from doug shields blog.

JW do not consider their elders, shepherds, leaders as part of the clergy (of christendom,) neither do they refer to their kingdom halls as churches, but US legislation does. And US legislation protects JW elders and Kingdom Halls same as it does churches and priests under any other name that US law determines qualifies, and also holds them accountable under the same legislation. It is not up to personal opinion.

Abortion is law in the US and a civil court cannot change that. Neither is it the subject matter of such lower court to change JW elders clergy penitent priviledge. A lower Court can however determine whether or not certain communications between between clergy and penitent are protected under the related laws of confidentiality for JW elders or anybody else, without changing the law. However, such unfavorable determination can also unfavorably affect the church facing a similar scenario in the future.

a partner - which specializes in civil cases and I recall him saying that you cannot "interpret" guilt or its absence from out-of-court settlement in general, a defendant who initiates an offer has probably decided either not to drag their name through the court proceedings and risking their name and reputation regardless of guilt or realizes the likelihood of a decision in their favour is reduced.
Civil lawsuits are not about guilt; they are about money. Generally, a plaintiff is looking for money or for an injunction. And generally a Defendant is not seeking to defend his name but his assets.Ultimately, everything having a resolution in dollars. Hence, a defense looks at the case in terms of the cheapest way to get out of if. Legal fees are expensive and time and resources valuable. Cheapest is to give Plaintiffs some money and settle out of Court. Generally that is what insurance companies love to do, and they will tell you: "in a spirit of fairness and of compromise but without any admission of doing wrong." By the same token Plaintiff's attorneys don't work for free but for a fee or on contingency so they dont care whether or not defendants are liable but the only thing that really matters to them is the depth of vulnerable pockets, so someone with no money is not worth suing.
And generally, making offers instead of going to Court have nothing to do with protecting one's good name since everybody knows that civil lawsuits are generally about extracting money from vulnerable pockets.
But there are cases where harm results to to others because of actions or lack of actions or measures by some entity. In such cases, such entities should be stopped. In such cases it is just and proper that such victims be compensated for their losses and such entities should be stopped legally from causing any more harm. However, in the US, the Courts have not found that WT is systematically causing harm and should be stopped.
One facing criminal charges however, would not spare anything he has, to fight such charges, especially if innocent, choosing jail and any expense and lengthy Court battle over compromise to defend one's good name. But that ain't what Civil proceedings are about.

Richard Oliver is characteristically inclined to do. I can only hope that the plaintiff is pleased with the outcome (perceiving the out-of-court settlement as a validation of her suffering) and can move on in her life.
Seems to me that RO is quite objective and puts all prejudice aside that he has towards the wt when expressing his views. I do not detect the same fairness in your assesment of this case; not being a juror and not knowing all of the facts, you state that you hope that plaintiff is pleased with the outcome regardless of justice, namely whether or not the Defendants violated the law nor did anything wrong that caused harm to the Plaintiff. As if they should have to pay for plaintiff's suffering even if they caused no harm. But you have not expressed that you care anything about that. It seems to me that you just want wt to be punished whether they have done something wrong or not. That is not fair.
i always wondered why african slaves adopted the bible.
for the life of me i couldn't understand the attraction.
of course this is not only african slaves who adopted the religion of their oppressors, so i came across a article "the above topic".. five reasons 1)coercion (2)co-option (3)conditioning (4)convincing (5) materialist consequences..in the case of the african slaves they made sure that plenty of bibles be shipped to the south and used to keep the slaves in line... so my question, what will be the religion in the destined future,jw's(no way),scientology (hope not),christianity, islamic or maybe no religion???
Part of human nature to want to be accepted and to assimilate and to want to fit in and be like others. People start to look alike sound alike, peer pressure, and there is a syndrome when people are in captivity that causes them to be like and accept their captors.
i think everyone here is under the impression that i am a watchtower sympathizer, i am not.
i just like facts and when people say things, which are their opinions but that facts point out as not being true, than that is when i get so motivated to make a comment.
i have read posts here, listened to six screens and read jwsurvey and seen things that people say, which are opinion, but pass them off as fact.. there are legitimate things that people on here and former jws have concerns over without manipulating what is said or trying to pass off opinion as a fact.
I presented facts here that there are states that bar ministers from reporting child abuse, so I was waiting for one person to disprove it by actual facts. I don't need more sentiment in my life, I like pure facts.
One fact about mandatory reporting in some states is that a Penitent can sue for breach of confidentiality protected under the US Constitution. Very simple solution if the US gov wants clergy to report crimes- change the law, period. -No more Catholic church confessions and no more JC. No penitent will be stupid enough to confess his sins or ask for any spiritual help. End of religious freedom and end of religion. But no end to child abuse because the deviants will find ways. But as the law stands now, Clergy can be sued and Penitent confidetialty is protected under the Constitution. Don't get angry with the church, blame the constitution.
If the church reports, they loose their clients and can be sued. If the church does not report, they are sued.
