  Person who DA accepted and lived by the rules of the church and one of the rules is what you refer to as "shunning" and now all of a sudden when such person decides not to be a member of the church feels that church laws do not apply. It does; based on wt interpretation of the Bible.

  Richard, OC was asking a moral question. Wt does not get to decide if child porn is child abuse in any instance or jurisdiction. When they are compelled to report, that is what they are required to do.

  RO: It's okay...just viewing images of naked children is not child abuse. Don't worry about that. Jehovah's directions say that it is okay - just looking isn't child abuse.

  The WT has stated that viewing child pornography is not considered child abuse.

  
  And whether or not that is true, it may be criminal conduct governed by mandatory reporting compelling wt to report.

  How wt handles immorality is church business unless Australian law regulates wt policy.

  In the US, in one jurisdiction for example, the way the law is written, child porn is child abuse, and the way the law is written, child means 17 years of age and under.

  OC question is very clear, she refers to a minor under the age of puberty, as I understood her question, and who could argue with her is what RO was pointing out. What is misleading about OC's argument is that she only narrows it down in her question but that is not the way laws are always written; wt has a legal duty to comply with mandatory reporting in whatever the law requires and when required wt must report child porn. That is all that matters. According to wt morality, having any immoral thoughts is wrong, let alone wachting any porn, and any person having pedophile feelings -who wants that person around, I would not; wt on the other hand has both a legal duty and a spiritual duty towards the person and everybody else in the wt community. It is a complicated issue for wt.

  by dorian hargrove, june 24, 2016. a san diego superior court judge has ordered the church of jehovah's witnesses, also known as the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, to pay $4000 a day for every day that it fails to produce documents requested in a civil lawsuit brought by former parishioner, osbaldo padron, who claims a church elder sexually abused him when he was seven years old.. in a june 23 ruling, expected to be made final today, judge richard strauss admonished the church for willfully ignoring a court order to produce all documents associated with a 1997 body of elders letter that church leaders sent to parishes around the world in a quest to learn about sexual abuse of children by church leaders.. over the course of the past year, the watchtower society and its lawyers have fought hard to keep the letter confidential, claiming that turning over the documents would infringe on the privacy of those mentioned in the letter that were not associated with the case.. in march 2015, the church turned over a heavily redacted version of the letter.
