in either camp, god is not a factor because religion is only a means that misrepresents god, hence religionists themselves are atheists (literally, those who live without god).

it is like saying there exists no earth because you found out your friend who taught earth is flat is wrong; or it is like saying mathematics itself is wrong because you found out your mathematics teacher made a mistake.

Even the most simplest of living organisms contain a biological mechanism that can cause it to change and adapt and to pass on its traits to its descendants, but this should not be confused with the theory of human evolution which purports to show that human beings evolved from (a) non-human specie(s) into the races of mankind walking the earth at this time.

You believe only what your senses tell you to believe? Do you think that your senses are of any use without its substratum—the consciousness?

When you are not dreaming or hallucinating, your senses together with an un-deluded understanding of plain common sense will distinguish what is real from fantasyland and science fiction. Or you can just put things to a test with a big old sledgehammer. --You can believe what you like though but proof and self delusion should not be confused.

To get the proof one needs only to look within. There you find a conscious presence ..

That is all imagination and poetry. Proof is something external that is objective and can be perceived by the senses -empirical. God is the supreme moral authority that governs, judges and rewards conduct and actions. Without justice, God would not need to exist.

Why the move to Warwick?

i've seen a lot of posts around and about warwick and the goings on there but was curious as to people's theories on why the move to warwick?

granted there's the obvious point about all of the money from the sale of properties in brooklyn but for as massive as warwick is, the purchase of an apartment complex there, multiple sites and buildings i would be surprised if they had much left from all of the profits.

so beyond a financial incentive why move?

WT operations have changed, WT no longer needs the Kings County property for their present operations. For some reason, gb chose to go to Warwick at this time.

at one time scientists believed that living things and non-living things were made of different material, accounting for the unique properties of living things.

this idea is called vitalism and is no longer popular.

what does remain popular (in fact is still the dominant view) is a similar idea that things that experience the world (humans, frogs, mice) are different from things that don't experience the world (potatoes, rocks, snowflakes).

Well... they say that some 13 billion years or so ago, those rocks are walking around today.

I was told that Jose Feliciano, a Hispanic singer that was born blind, fathered about six children. ( I figure that the other senses without sight can stimulate sexual feelings; maybe sound, or smell, or taste, or touch.) But how can a seeing person prove to a blind man that the beauty of a woman exists? He has to see for himself to understand what it means.

i have thought long and hard about this, you know in those midnight hours.. you will probably string me alive in what i say, but here you go-.

i feel that the jw's do have the truth.

i do agree with the doctrines and biblical exgenesis they propound.i do feel that they have the 'truth' i do understand they are imperfect, and i think they have had to 'refine' their teachings as time has gone on-and change accordingly- i see nothing wrong with this.

The point I was making is that the WTS created doctrines intentionally to attract attention to its literature, 1874, 1914, 1925, 1975 all these proclaimed dates were devised to heighten interest to the literature,

Boloney and stop lying to yourself. WTS really believed what they taught -they still do. And stop lying about wt intentions.

in the late 1960's a big change happened in sexual culture in the u.s. and england.women asserted their "right" to become more aggressive and obtrusive in their dealings with men.

however, the louts, the jerks, the hyper-aggressive males were only encouraged (in their male fantasies) to lower women even more as a result of this.

bra burning, short skirts, "free sex", was seen as a green light to do as you please and to relegate "respect for women" to discarded and antiquated manners of a bygone generation.i was in a puritanical religious cult during all this.when all the "fun" began, i was either in prison or going door to door peddling end of the world scenarios.the chief reason i got married was to avoid sex!

1975... the year that keeps on giving.

so i recently moved back to my really really really small hometown in the south.

it was the place that my parents moved to from a major city up north in the early 1970's.

when we lived here times were very tough financially and i was always told that the reason we did not attend meetings was due to the fact that we had no car / no gas for the car / could not afford repairs for the years we were there.

Very keen observation. Seems that it would serve ironic justice if the marriage of the lamb would coincide with the date of the marriage of Adam to Eve.

Given the Bible, it would be ironic if everything converged: Gentile times, end 6000 years, 1914 ( sounds like Nisan 14), destruction of human government at the feet of iron and clay), etc. Oh.. the irony.
