WW 2 was far worse than AD70 to the Jews.

Not spiritually. 70 marked the end of the Jewish era. Back in 70, they were verified natural Israelites by lineage with documentation to establish tribe, priestly rights, land and inheritance rights and they had Temple and Holy Land. Thereafter, like the northern 10 tribes became the Samaritans, Rabbinical Judaism emerged composed of a people that married converted Gentiles. Are the descendants of the 70 survivors “Jews”—-to God because such practice a form of Judaism ? By what standard is a person a “Jew” because the person practices some form of Judaism and where is God in the equation since Jew in ww2 was about religion and not race? So 70 was the end of the Bible Jews, there was no salvation from Jehovah: “The kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation producing its fruits.And, “ Look your house is abandoned to you…” Also, God rejected natural Israel and chose an Israel of God with no provision for restoration—the end. We know that 70 was a punishment upon the Jews but were the people of WW2 that you refer to “Jews” to God? So 70 was really the end.

So which of the above best approximates your view of the 1914 generation that you "seemingly" acknowledge Matthew 24:21 & 34 exclusively apply to? Hopefully seemingly will soon be clarified.

Watchtower knows that they were wrong in their application of generation to 1914— but that doesn’t debunk 1914. And that doesn’t falsify that the Olivette has a greater fulfillment.

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Mt 24:34

History proves this happened in 70CE. There is reason to believe that before the Millennium this prophecy applies to all the earth.

can't imagine anyone is really enjoying letter writing still or that it's remotely effective.

i'm a little shocked that we haven't resumed yet but i guess that's what happens when the org is run by a bunch of old people (ie high risk for covid) and a bunch of other sheltered germaphobes.

So Scholar...are you saying that Jesus was warning people in his generation exclusively to pray that their flight not be in winter or on a Sabbath Day Correct.

Don’t know the latest wt commentary on this scripture but everybody had plenty of time to escape in 66CE, pregnant women, babies, etc—4 years! so Sabbath and winter did not actually apply at all then. If the individual waited till the second time around in 70 to flee then the scripture applies literally. Latest wt commentary is no antitipycal as a general rule but this scripture can be spiritualized to apply to the Parousia.

must be the destruction of Jerusalem.

That is not true at all. The Parousia, the sign of the son of man, separating sheep and goats and the Millennium did not happen then.

Sun and moon have become dark, And the stars have lost their brightness.

What is the rest of the Bible implying. What are the verses you cited implying? Simply the destruction of Jerusalem for the second time?

So what generation do you believe Jesus was referring in Matthew 24:34?

We know for sure generation applied to his time in terms of time because the end came in 70CE. We don’t know how the word generation applies to 1914. We believe it does apply because generation in that verse also encompasses the Parousia.

Since the text encompasses the parousia it could apply to it too.

Your flight" means that some in Christ's audience would experience the vengeance of God if they could not escape in time. Your organization acknowledges this.

We know in hindsight that was the case in 70CE for those that failed to use discernment when Gallus surrounded Jerusalem. There were other variables that could prevent people from escaping even if they wanted to. Some that were preventable some that depended on the individual relationship with God. A pregnant woman had plenty of time to flee 66CE because the siege came in 70. If that is a pattern for us today there is a symbolic application.

The context of the fleeing is not symbolic

Fleeing is not symbolic. However, the 2nd seige of Jerusalem occurred in the Spring. The first siege by Gallus also applied to everybody inside Jerusalem at the same time and season so how could winter and Sabbath apply to only one The focus here is: the individual, his flight and prayer to God.
