Does your belief system make you nicer

or, does your nature help determine the belief system that you choose?

if you lose your belief system, do you become worse, better, stay the same, happier, sadder?

is it better to have a system imposed on you in order to control you, or is it better to be yourself?

I think that many things come into play. DEfine nice. Some religious people are more obnoxious than hemmoroids and yet because of their beief system they wont kill yoi=u or steal from you or vandalize you or try to flirt with your spouse.... anymore. That is great. I also think that everyone person has his or her very own weakness or propensity.

REligion haS A DOUBLE EFFECT. On the one hand it prevents people from harming others, on the other hand it causes people to harm others. (some religions that is. It is wonderfiull when people are nice, but I seetle for people not causing me any harm, even if they aing=t so nice.

SAwyer, Thanks for explaining that!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was great understanding what my cat was doing.

Ok, I tried the water spary but this guy keeps comming back again and again and again and again and again..... Will he learn? This week I will buy this cat the scratch post with the rope suggested here too.

Breakingaway. It is funny how my cat can so quicky distinguish between my flesh and my clothers. He attcahes his claws to my clothes but ALWAYS soft paws when he touches my body except in the hunting mode. Another thhing Restrangled, sometimes he bites me by surprise (softly never evr hard) or if I do not pet him when he grabs my hand and pets himself with my hand then he bites my hand but soft.

I am a little afraid of him when he is in the hunting mode. One time he grabbed my hand and arm with his front paws and used his back paws to kinda scratch my am moving his back paws up and down many times while he was grabbing me with his front claws and teeth, He ddint hurt me with his front paws and teeth but I felt a little scratched with his back paws. Why did he dod that playing or was he in a mood?

What Does the Bible Really Teach??

my wife's family is jw, she has never been a partipative jw, but now due to her mom, has been expressing some interest and is starting a 'bible study' using 'what does the bible really teach?

' am looking for any guidance on this book as well as any path i can take to make sure my wife stays away.

any assistance at all would be appreciated.

Most things in the Bible are not clearly stated or defined. In fact, unless you read the original languages, you are only reading a translation interpreted by the translator and the result is an interprtetation of what the Bible writters wrote. Then the challenge is figuring out what did God mean by what you are reading.

I have concluded that without the help of God(hs holy spirit) one cannot understand the Bible as a whole picture. Sure, one can study the BIble and learn certain facts.

While there are diverse beliefs as to what the Bible teaches, there are some things that are clear and solid.

1 Love your fellow man.

2 Keep trying not to do things that hurt yourself or others

3 God will bring relief

4 God is merciful and will fogive you

5 expect to suufer but meke the best out of life and try to be happy. God will help help you

6 God WILL or HAS communicated with you so LEARN TO LISTEN CAREFULLY>

the phrases still roll off my tongue, "a god of tender mercies", a god in whom there is no injustice", a god who "protects the little one.".

in spite of those worn out platitides, if i walked in to a court room and saw the name "jehovah god" in metallic letters on the door, i would ask my attorney to make a motion to have the judge recused.

i would prefer to take my judicial chances with any ticket-fixing, bribe-taking, alcoholic, mafia-controlled human judge than face the uneven, irrational and obscene judicial decisions made by god jehovah.. i cite the case of king david of israel.

What is the official belief about DFed ones?

my understanding is that if armageddon comes when you are dfed, you are dead.

of course there is the standard jw caveat for that "only j can judge".

my dfed brother was committed early this morning to the psych ward.

Policy towards df ones are not written in stone. Only one rule, and that is, not discuss spiritual things except if the df is a minor at home. AS far as the wts official position NOW on what will happen to a df one at Armageddon, the wts litterature says that, that is for God to decide.

People get df becuase the elder's BELIEVE that the person is unrepentant. Not because of th act and not because the person is or insnt unrepentant. Thereafter, the person has the burden of showing and convincing the cong of repentance.

Some fanatical(inn my opinion) jws will have nothing to do with a fam memebers because they are df. I think that the wts should instruct jws to love and deal with their family even if such are in a df condition. THEY CAN OF COURSE AND MANY DO! But I think that the wts should make that CLEAR>

I really appreciate all the info about cats. I have petted cats before but never owned one or taken care of one before this guy. I do not let my cat go outside because I am afraid he will get lost or injured. At first, I wanted to buy one of these exotic cats like a Havana or an egyptiaan hairless but they were hard to find so I went to the local shelter and noticed this friendly guy and adopted him. He was under a year or just a little over. They put him in a cardborad box but broke out of the box whule I was driving home. I was terrified the cat I was not aquainted with was loose in the car and all over me. When I brought him in, I realized that he was tame and gentle and affectionate and we became friends.

I had to sign a contract never to declaw him. The poor thing was already castrated when I got him. No problem with his poop. He goes in the box and thats it. He eats dry food with no prob but I give him wet too.

I have tried to train him but this guy does whatever the hell he wants. He gives me his paw but that is it. When I sit down he jumps on my lap. I tell him NO, NO. but he doesnt care. I have one of these large pettransporters filled with soft cloth and whenever I am very busy and he starts to act like crazy glue, I put him in there until I am free again.

Oh, another thing about this cat, he likes to also put his butt towards me as if he wnats me to rub him ther. I notice that he like me to rub just above his tail andlower back.

How can I prevent my cat from damaging things with his claws? I read the post about the soft claws. Is that te best way? Any other option? Any ther helful info about cats I greatly appreciate.

One time he brought and put before me a mouse that he caught and crippled. I felt flattered.

I want to know the best thing for my cat. I do not want him to damage things with his claws and I want him to understand that there are times that he has to go away and be still. I am not so concerned about his drooling anyomre. This post hs convinced me that my cat is normal. Now I just want to know how he can learn.

I would never declaw my cat. I love this cat. Why does he get into these hunting or wild modes? In these modes he doesnt attack me he jus gets into this mode that he wants to grab and catch and bite, playfully wild. I spend time with him eveyday and allow him to sit on my lap. That is when he drools all over me non stop purring when he is on my lap or I carry him. Thanks for all of the info. I am glad I have a normal cat. How affectionate and how wild. Very much like a woman.

Like I said on a previous thread, this is my first cat. This cat always follows me around and demands to be petted all of the time. He wants to be carried all of the time. When I dont pet him he extends his leg and with his paw he grabs my hand and pets himself with my hand

When I first brought the cat home, I let him sleep on our bed a couple of times but at night he gets into a hunting mode and runs through the house and jumps on furniture pretending to be hunting. His claws are out and he grabs me with his claws.

All of the time this cat wants to be petted but once in while he gets into this mode where he likes to grab with his claws(not scratch) or come uo behind and waps his legs around my leg with his claws to my pants and bite.

He had a habit before of wanting to rub his face against mine all of the time. THis cat wants to be on me all of the time.

Can you help me to understand my cat?
