A philosophical question .... what does the word God mean to you personally ?
by Finkelstein into myself it means to seek knowledge and understanding of are selves and the world in which we live.. unfortunately history has shown whenever one tries to connect to god and of his knowledge through men who say they themselves are connected to god through spiritual wifi ie.
gb members of the jehovah's witnesses for example, one usually ends up finding a accumulation of only man's acquired knowledge.
over thousands of years of trying to connect to a god(s) for help and answers, mankind has eventually relinquished himself to seeking answers through scientific investigative acquired knowledge of the world in which we live in.

Being angry with God or not wanting him to exist does not change anything. -But if you found evidence of God, would it not put your mind at ease to know? You would never loose your mind if reality failed you, if everything that you trusted in turned out to be a fallacy, even if doom seemed to be the only destiny, you would always have this only reality -that you know- to base your thinking on. You would realize that you are not in control. Not by your efforts, not cause and effect, is the reason things happen. Your mind could just let go. You could have peace of mind free of anxiety and leave things in God's hands -IF you found the evidence. But more than the evidence is needed. After a time one takes the evidence for granted just as a blind man that gains sight takes his vision for granted and focuses then on all of the other heartaches and natural shocks that flesh is heir to and looses sight of the prize. -

Orthodox Jews Recognize Christianity as 'Willed By God' as Catholics Call Jewish Covenant "Irrevocable"
by David_Jay into date, over 50 jewish rabbis from around the world have added their names to an historical statement in response to ongoing jewish and catholic relations which have proved successful since the vatican released nostre aetate some 50 years ago...and the number is growing.. in the first days of december of 2015, about 24 orthodox rabbis signed a "statement on christianity" released by the israel's center for jewish-christian understanding and cooperation, with the vatican releasing its own document entitled "the gifts and the calling of god are irrevocable" just one week later.
both statements recognize each other's religion as divine, from the same source, and part of the same (albeit mysterious) providential economy of redemption from god.. while not totally new, especially since the papacy of st. pope john paul ii, the vatican document is a substantial culmination of formal statements and studies that came before over the last half century.
especially from the largely ignored but striking significance of the pontifical "the jewish people and their sacred scriptures in the christian bible," the new 2015 document is a reiteration of all that has come before in one place, resounding the previous scripture-study statement that the church holds that the jews are still the covenant people of god, that the covenant has never been revoked, and.... "in the past, the break between the jewish people and the church of christ jesus could sometimes, in certain times and places, give the impression of being complete.

Judaism and Christianity is incompatible.
That is correct And that is also what a Jew would say.
"What do you think, that Judaism is built on nothing but Rashi?"
I never said that. Judaism allows diversity in Jewish thought, for example: Satmar position on Zionism but I cannot see much deviation from Rashi except from the perspective of Moshe ben Nachman. Rashi script is one of the first things taught in Hebrew school to ALL Jewish children. I cannot see any Rabbi disagreeing with Rashi.

The Jewish document states "that Christianity is neither an accident nor an error, but the willed divine outcome and gift to the nations."
That is funny. "Jews" believe that Satan is a Holy angel doing his job and that God is the source of both good and evil -figure that one out. In line with that I can see what they mean about Gentiles being divine willed and a gift to the nations and all that Orthoxy also believes that God created an aged universe so that it only seems to be billions of years old because God aged it but the universe is actually only thousands of years old.

What are the biggest holes in evolution?
by shadow inhow honest are the proponents of evolution?
idk but curious to see what type of response there is on a topic like this or does their study only seek to confirm their preconceptions and ignore uncomfortable facts?

wilful ignorance cofty
You" know 100%" -that is what a fact is. On the other hand you know more than the apparent "overwhelming evidence" (not 100 percent) that lead to one conclusion -that the only logical conclusion is that evolution is a fact. Unless, that is, if evolution does not turn out to be the case. In that case you will need to redefine the word fact to mean that a fact is not always true. On the other hand if evolution turns out be be a striking fact that in itself would not invalidate the existence of the Almighty yet it would challenge how the Bible is interpreted pertaining to the mechanism God used to create life. I know 100 percent for a fact that God exists. I do not need faith to believe that God is a reality same as I do not need faith to know that the constant of gravity is about 32 feet per second squared. I know, I took the measurement ( here on the planet earth ) as it is also a fact that the earth is a sphere.
Suppose an unknown cloned person took a paternity test? It would be axiomatic that a man had intercourse with a woman to produce the unknown clone, and what would the paternity test prove? For cofty it would prove 100 percent that a man and a woman had intercourse to apparently produce the clone (unknown to him that the clone was cloned without cofty knowing all of the facts.) Let alone any genetic test, it is axiomatic that every non original living organism is the result of biological reproduction -apparently- so it seems universally to everyone not knowing all of the facts. What is the mechanism of creation? Apparently, the mechanism that produced all living species even humanity is evolution. Cofty knows this 100 percent. -

there is a similar amount of evidence for spherical earth as there is for evolution
How do you figure?

dispassionately.
Evidence cannot be colored. It is what it is
And he's right Fisherman
Because you say so?
