  in a discussion about the best flavour of ice cream everybody's opinion is equally valid.. in a discussion about the shape of the earth or the origin of species everybody's opinion is equally irrelevant.

  only objective facts and evidence matter.. confusing these two categories is a common feature of conversations in this forum.

  Thank you for posting that equation shepherdless. It reminds me of physics 101. The way we learned it though was : G= m1*m2/d squared (d being the distance between the centers of each object, if I recall ancient history) Even back then my theory was that there must be be a relationship between all matter in the universe no matter the distance. I also wondered if the the same  relationship existed in quantum condition and if somehow it failed or changed under certain distances. Could not figure it out back then. I learned more about physics later on. -Guess what "gravity" is or call it what you like, the relationship in the related equation exists, it is not an opinion.

  Um... what???

  IN other words, you equate millions and millions of JW that disagree with DJS with the millions concluded that the earth was flat.

  Their teachings and behaviors destroy families and rob individuals of personal conscience, freedom of choice, dreams, hopes, aspirations and ambitions. Their shunning policy and discouraging education create a strain on government resources, not to mention failing to contribute to the greater good of social and economic improvement. (in reference to JW)

  Again, I strongly disagree and so do millions of JW!! They feel that: Their families are not destroyed, they profess to enjoy a clean conscience, they are happy with their choice to be JW and no regrets and would make the same choice again, they strive to be honest productive members of society. And they don't retaliate vindictively or use political power to go after other religions or other entities that make trouble for them -they trust God for justice. Of course, you cannot please everybody and people leave JW, some after gazing at the temporary pleasures the world has to offer, others get angry at jw.

  Nothing in DJS commentary shows or establishes any extremism different from other religions that is practiced by jw that the Russians or anybody else should go after wt and stop them from enjoying their freedom of worship in-spite of the posted colorful hatred and ill will towards wt. The opposite is true,WT does not hate anybody or tries to stop anybody and does not resort to framing trouble by decree or use the government to stop what goes against wt teaching such as other BABYLONISH religions, abortion, homosexuality, etc.

  I am sure DJS has his reasons for resentment towards wt but millions of other jws support wt and they feel that you believe the earth is flat or the center of the universe -whatever you wish to be true- and they disagree with your side.

  The flaw in your all of your arguments, cofty, is that you equate conclusions derived from evidence (for example, your idolized theory of evolution) with fact, confusing them.

  many years back, before ex-jw websites, i called on a local lady in order to design an extension to her already enormous house.

  she was a young, voluptuous gal, married to a much older local business man who spared little expense in order to give his young wife whatever her heart desired.. we chatted for ages.

  Home bookstudy ended because of 'independent study' groups? Any interesting stories regarding these types of groups?

  someone suggested the other day that the home bookstudy meeting ended because of 'independent study' groups (in ireland) going 'off the reservation' and left the truth (tm).. has anyone heard of this before?.

  does anyone have interesting stories of 'independent study' groups resulting in large scale apostasy?.

  What I heard regarding this was that one of the reasons for the change was related to legal ramifications and the lack of control of the places were the meetings were conducted vs the KH.

  Lota reasons, and also: more than too many meetings a week.
