WT taught in the past that Genesis "Creative Days" were 7000 years each. WT also showed in wt publications how C14 dating could not be trusted... Well back in the mid 70's, scientists faked some human fossils claiming to be (trillions of years old LOL,) anyway, an article came out in the New York Times, back then, front page, exposing the fraud, Conclusion? Can't trust archeology; they are fakers, worshipers of evolution; they have an agenda. And so,as a result of that scandal, many uneducated (religious) people did not even want to consider C14 dating, totally rejecting it as untrustworthy. A person's credibility can be ruined also if such resorts to deception -but that is another topic.

But in the late 1980's, the wts changed its teaching on the length of each Creative Day to millions and millions of years -in light of the facts, and the wts also teaches now that the earth is billions of years old, also in light of the facts. Well, according to Bible chronology, the date of the flood is 2370 BCE and only a couple of thousand years earlier, the creation of Adam. Have you ever written an essay on Bible chronology "vis-a-vis" with verifiable scientific evidence? Also, what is your opinion on the Bible date of the flood, the flood, and the Bible date of the creation of Adam based on pure verifiable evidence. Coming from you it would be very interesting to read.

The WTS has always published that wts is not infallible (MAKING MISTAKES, ERRONEOUS), so it is not a surprise that wts puts it in print again, but WT fallibility has always been linked with "progressive understanding" and "adjusted view" , "off by timing" in the minds of JW.; something that JW have been used to throughout the years. But now in the posted article, the wts says outright that wt can ERR on DOCTRINE.. and those words do not have the same buffered impact on the JW mind.

I don't know. But what JW have concluded on their own regardless of what WT says is that WT is backed up by Almighty God. JW say that they know this for a fact. But I feel devastated to learn that someone actually has died because of adherence to WT erroneous doctrine.

Smmidy, in the related article, the wt does not actually say that wt erred in doctrine, only that they can err in doctrine and then they direct the reader to a reference showing where WT has made adjustments on scriptural views and leaves it up to the reader to conclude.

Also in the related article, wt makes gives no reference that WT erred in Blood , organ transplants or vaccines in the past.

JB, you are welcome to believe that possession of a "Milawi political card " did not compromise JW neutrality as you see it (because Milawi was a one party state,) but WT disagrees with you. WT position at that time was that purchasing such card and what JW were subscribing to by doing so did violate JW religious beliefs. IT seems to me that it makes no difference how many Parties there are in a government but whether or not being part of any political party violates Christian neutrality.

JW did not have a choice but be murdered, raped, tortured by Party members. Imagine that! And you want to blame WT for those atrocities?

The wrong is not whether a person's religious beliefs are correct or but that people should not be savagely murdered and raped and tortured because of them.

.....the topic of Malawi versus Mexico:

I have already pointed out in my previous post that the Mexican "cartilla" was and is nothing more than proof of military service (training). Let me explain: Unlike the US, Mexico, and many countries worldwide require young men of military age to be "drafted" for a period of time, even during peace time -some countries required 4 years military peace time service /training (call it what you like)- for the purpose of receiving military training, so that such are ready for war -and if war happens to break out at the time of the service - as the saying goes- "You're in the army now!" In Mexico,there was no other way out other than paying the officials or be forced into the army (Korean JW today have no way out). Buying the Malawi political card was different as wt saw it because according to wt, doing so violated christian neutrality and there was no other way out other than only violating christian neutrality (as wt saw it) which involved becoming part of a political party, paying a fee and being issued the card. If Mexican JW were faced with Malawi circumstances, same would apply, so the WT standard is the same. (Paying a fee to circumvent going to the army and paying a fee to circumvent becoming part of a political party is not the same as paying a fee to become part of a political party.)

Regarding swearing an oath of loyalty, for example, to the US Constitution, is different than saluting a flag or participating in some act that is idolatry. The real issue that people object to is not a religious position in itself, but as people see it, when a JW is faced with duress, JW should abandon or betray their religious beliefs to save their skin. If it were for secular reasons, such act would be called being a coward, or treason.

IN the JW, people mainly get DF for sex sins, etc - and JW do it anyway without fear of getting DF. I have never seen a case of someone getting DF for caving in to a BT. Usually such a person feels devastated and feels that he failed, etc, or they leave because they get angry and hurt.

JW position is that a person cannot violate God's Law (as jw decide what is God's Law) unconditionally and being faced with death is not a condition. A person first needs to clearly identify and clearly understand what is wrong. If a person does not know, how can he decide what to do but if he knows or if he believes he knows, then he can choose. Should duress be a condition for violating God's Law? Paul disagrees, "We MUST obey God as ruler rather than men."
