Infinity versus nothing
by Fisherman insome people like to believe in something others believe in nothing; so in what location did the substance that expanded into the time/space universe exist before the big bang?
where did the energy that caused the big band come from?
how did the substance that became the big bang change from being inert and sterile and come to life to having the properties and drive that it does?

You can't apply the question, "what location" to when no space existed,
It is believed that photons, and some sub-atomic particles (not being 3 dimensional) do not occupy space ( so it is believed) But the way I see it, every thing needs a location, being inside the universe and part of it. But getting back to my OP question, since the universe is believed to begin with the big bang, what caused it to become the big bang since something physical expanded becoming the universe, requiring location outside it to contain it, and energy to fuel its expansion. Where does the expanding universe exist now, space being part of it? Does space need some location to exist?

Of course why is there something rather than nothing is the ultimate question -Cofty
No. Rather, the real question is how did it happen given the universe and its nature. To say that nothing is another option presumes that something isn't infinite but if something is in reality infinite then nothing never existed and never an option.

I found his book to be satisfying for me. -- Charles
So is the Bible something to some.
Krauss' book about nothing is scientific in the beginning but everything else is fiction. His nothing is not idle but is defined by its nature, a physical force that morphs into something.
SBF, this is off topic but your posts on this Forum are an adornment to every thread. (what a loss to wt!)

In fact, zero is everything! Zero is the sum of infinity. If you add all the positive integers to all the negative ones what do you get? They cancel out to zero!
Enjoyed reading that!

Fluctuations
Smid and A1
My point is that properties of the relationships between time, space, mass, energy inside an existing universe do not touch the OP.

A1-off topic- I drive an Infinity; it burns gas; before my car was built, it did not burn gas; the laws that you reference describe an existing universe.

Some people like to believe in something others believe in nothing; so in what location did the substance that expanded into the time/space universe exist before the big bang? Where did the energy that caused the big band come from? How did the substance that became the big bang change from being inert and sterile and come to life to having the properties and drive that it does? If something always existed then that something always had properties and drive. If nothing always existed then that nothing is really something.

put youir thinking caps on.
by zeb inthis was sent to me from doug shields blog.
for those who like stats and numbers may find this of interest.. 1914 – recognizing the ”the elephant in the room”.
the problem with the date ”1914 ad” lays with the two calendars that are involved – jewish and gregorian.

Fin, counting back 70 years from 539, you get to 609.

AM, you are correct that 607 is Gregorian and not Jewish Calendar and 2520 figures in both calendars resulting in 1914 in Gregorian years but the 2520 in the Jewish calendar as you pointed out, also corresponds with 1914.
I do not know for sure if 607 is correct but it makes sense to me: 539-70 = 609. So, if the 70 years began after the assasination of king Zedekiah and if the Jews did stay in Babylon for 70 years, 607 is at the very least, plausible, based on the Bible.
