The entire JW exprience has changed. In the past, JW message was mainly about the "end;" now it is mainly about Christian living -with the end in the back burner

Circuit Assemblies in the "Good Old Days"
by BluesBrother injust been reminiscing about how c/a's have changed since we were young.
i remember when they started friday night in some rented hall , as well as the two weekend days.
saturday morning was a brief session then field ministry (which only a few performed ) and sunday sessions.. in the free time around the venue we just used to hang out socialising and eyeing up the girls.

The fact that different states have different laws about child sexual abuse is ludicrous it should be looked at pronto.
by smiddy init would go a long way in having a law that prosecutes anybody sexually abusing a child or even an adult that encompasses all states with the same laws the same consequences and the same penalties in the country.. this system that has different laws ,different penaltys , different outcomes depending in what state you live in is ludicrous.. one country should have the same judicial system no matter how many states their are in that country.. this state has mandatory laws this state doesnt and the outcome can be so demoralising for those involved ..

states have different laws because the subject is complex and controversial.
In the US, that is not true. States have different laws because every state of the union has an independent State legislative body. The United States is not the Confederate States.

Smid, that is never going to happen in the US. But US laws could be passed making child sex crimes Federal offenses in addition to existing State Penal laws. But as it is written now, murder, sex crimes, and such like crimes are tried by State Courts (unless interstate)and governed by the Penal laws of each state. What the state cannot do is to legislate against the Constitution or Federal laws. But sometimes they do it anyway, and you have a government battle. Look how NY government expressed it would not report illegal alliens but harbors them inspite of Federal laws. -

by James Mixon inthis would cripple the economy, don't know about other states in the union but it would.
be devastating for the border states.

the kids and I would hate to see the break up of their family. I don't know the answer.........
Let them all go back to the country of the parents together and apply legally for an immigration visa there and wait. And get in line like everbody else that has applied legally and has been waiting YEARS for a visa with relatives in the US. And if the visa is denied in their country, they are out of luck like everybody else that is denied immigration visa to the US. Why have children in the US knowing that you should not be there in the first place. Like someone that commits a crime and should not go to jail to keep the family together. First get a green card, then have children.
Very easy solutions. And if labor laws were changed to favor both business and employees, you wouldnt need illegal workers.

State laws versus US laws.
legal duty versus "responsibility"
false accusations versus no penalty

IN THE US: It is not the legal duty of the church to protect physically. That is the duty of Caesar.
Caesar can pass laws making it a felony 80 years in jail if convicted or death penalty for a lawyer or judge or child or mother or father or jury or anybody to falsely accuse or prosecute or sue anybody for sexual child abuse.
Change US laws of clergy confidentiality as WT proclaimed in Court.
Legislation expressing that no sexual crimes against children will be tolerated by Caesar. No exceptions!

Illegal immigrants are more of a financial burden than an asset. The government could retaliate and strike back by stopping their food stamps and medical.
They could give this money to the small businesses to help them pay for legal workers or the gov could subsidize the salaries of legal workers to help the businesses that cannot afford to pay the minimum wages. And use the money to help Americans in general. The American well farewell is dry.

JW do not consider their elders, shepherds, leaders as part of the clergy (of christendom,) neither do they refer to their kingdom halls as churches, but US legislation does. And US legislation protects JW elders and Kingdom Halls same as it does churches and priests under any other name that US law determines qualifies, and also holds them accountable under the same legislation. It is not up to personal opinion.

Abortion is law in the US and a civil court cannot change that. Neither is it the subject matter of such lower court to change JW elders clergy penitent priviledge. A lower Court can however determine whether or not certain communications between between clergy and penitent are protected under the related laws of confidentiality for JW elders or anybody else, without changing the law. However, such unfavorable determination can also unfavorably affect the church facing a similar scenario in the future.
