it turned out that in 1970 there was a lot of changes being made at bethel.

one of the major changes was that a bethelite didn’t have to go to kings county or the brooklyn heights congregations first before getting assigned out to a local kingdom hall in the new york city area.

So of course, there was a lot of mixed marriages. Which of course is fine.

Back in the early 70's there were marriages between the spanish and the blacks and the whites and the spanish in the congregations but it was a rare thing to see a black and white marriage in the congregations, And in BB, there were zero black and white marriages until the late 1970's and then one or two at max but years later is was common.

You want to get mugged or beat up? All you needed to do was to walk through a black neighborhood, especially at night being white. But a watchtower magazine was better than a weapon. You want to see people flee from you, let them think you are going to pull out the w and a magazines and ask for a dime contribution.

As a white kid preaching to blacks in the most dangerous neighborhoods in NYC, as long as I was brandishing the mags, I never had a problem, and not only that, blacks were more friendlier and more receptive than whites in white neighborhoods where whites hatefully kicked you out and all the more if you were accompanied by a black jw. And as NewBoy says,the ~~black~~ bros and sis were the best.

There was a feeling that one felt: the smell of the green soap at the home and a mixture of paper and ink and glue at the factory -gave the factory a characteristic smell. And it felt like being at bethel. But back then, although institution living went at fast pace, life was simpler in that era and time seemed to move at a slower pace. And although one was busy with the Cong and wt work, females -marrying a nice specimen hopefully soon- was more than often in the minds of celibate bethelites but they were an extremely rare specimen in the local Cong.

Dubstepped, after listening to your podcast, not only did my heart go out to you but my estimate of you changed compared to our dialogues on this forum.

I still can't get over the coincidence of seeing your duble in NY exactly at the same time you were there to visit. Too much of a coincidence to be pure chance it seems -unbelievable.

I am convinced about my faith. I am a true believer with no doubts. My presence on this Forum does not change that; I have learned to be more compassionate, understanding and respectful. I also enjoy very much the discussions I have with many of the posters here -very brilliant people here: Marvin Shilmer, TD, Slimboyfat, to name a couple.

It's a pity we can't shut down the Watchtower for all its lies and false advertising.

I feel the same way about a lot of religions -all of them for that matter except for wt- but I don't try to shut them down or infringe on their copyrights.

The Watchtower stopped them once before, their channel was closed down. They opened a new one adding a y to their name.

I feel no pity for them then if they are defiantly doing what they are doing instead of challenging YT decision legally after they were asked to stop and desist. Wt has been very patient.

first, a word about the watchtower’s financial position: nobody (outside the watchtower organization) knows.

the wtbs is not required to disclose its finances, and doesn’t.

we can speculate, but that is all we are doing.
