Says who? Is self preservation immoral when it involves harming other creatures?

In a most general sense, when we talk about morality, we are concerned with the well-being of conscious creatures with the primary focus on human beings.

Well-being of others is governed by laws, concerns are not.

Morality is the set of principles that determines the behaviour of rational, conscious agents to be either right or wrong/good or bad.

Do whatever you like or what you have been conditioned to feel, or what you inherently feel by nature or what is dictated by a governing body. Which which is which? Hitler's morality was concerned for the well-being of the German people and he was doing quite well. The Europeans also were concerned about wellbeing when they took the land from the Indians. They suceeded and he US is a prosperous nation where morality means do whatever the heck you like -just don't break the law.

Your question is a lot like asking "does health exist?"

Health is the opposite of disease. Some diseases are heart disease, kidney, infectious, autoimmune, poor eye vision, genetic disorders, chronic pain, broken limb, depression, etc.

So, the state of unhealth exists and health is the opposite of this. Does every human suffer from some health problem even in the tiny least? Yes. Some are in excellent health, some in good health, and some in poor health but no one is in 100 percent perfect health. But it can be shown what health is not. When does a person have a healthy kidney? When it functions within acceptable parameters. When is a person healthy? When he functions within acceptable parameters.

The good news began to be preached 2000+ years ago, and if I am correct it continued to be preached after 70 AD. Then according to wt, another good news of the kingdom or a continuation began to be preached circa 1914 for 103 years and going. In the minds of JW it is challenging to reconcile why the end has not come with heaven and earth stil around -no loss of faith though. It is hard to believe though that the preaching will last another 10 years using 1914 as a reference. Using 1914 as a reference, the party is over and the fat lady should be singing at any moment. If the fat lady doesn't sing any time soon, and I mean within days or months or so, then "Houston, we have a problem." - But that's only how I see it. Something has to give.

JW Rumor: End of the Traveling Overseer

a friend of mine has contacts to a family with several circuit overseers and special pioneers.

they have good connections to bethel.. he told me that the latest rumor from bethel states that the cos should be abolished in their present form.

they have also recently begun to take cos back to bethel.. over the same channel i have already heard of the car fleet program and that the dos should be abolished.. has anyone else already heard of it?

Sounds good on paper. But I can tell you after trying everything, someone sharp has to physically go there to see what's actually going on to report back to the higher ups to straighten things out. Some expenses you can't do without. It doesn't mean wt will not figure some way to trim the TO expense or even as this thread suggest cut it out. You will still need someone to supervise each BO and the Cong in my opinion however wt works it out financially.

It seems to make financial sense but the body of elders sometimes deviate and so does the congregation and you need someone to keep them in line. In any organization, tight management is needed or things will get out of control. JW congregations are no exception.

Help! Mike & Kim videos all being deleted by Youtube

due to watchtower flagging the mike & kim videos on youtube for copyright, youtube is giving them 6 days before they are shutting down their entire youtube channel.

can you help with a mass downloading program and then reuploading them on a mirror ?

would hate to lose all those good videos!

That's what Fair Use legal proceedings are all about.

Fisherman - Do you agree that a society that promoted rape, random murder and rapacious theft would not perfectly promote human well being?

Agree to a limited degree. But take slavery of the blacks in the US . Murder and rape did not apply to them. Also, exploitation of human beings all over the world so that countries like the US, can prosper. So, well- being for who? Sorry if I do not grasp what you mean.

Cofty there is a lot to read and think about. I need time to think about everything you posted but you can continue to explain and expand. Only trying to understand. I don't have a handle on this Topic. I am reading and thinking and expressing some feelings that's it. If you got your arm around this ok. If you got something solid to offer, consider it your thread. I am all ears for anyone who has gotten to the core of this.
