  Witness Royalty and the last day at the "Towers"

  my uber elder cousin and his wife got the "privilege" of having one last "toast" of wine at the rooftop garden at the towers in nyc since the jw's are vacating to warwick.

  his oldest daughter and son in law are quite high up in the inner circle so they get invited to all the "inner circle" activities.

  even though they aren't supposed to toast to anything it was pretty darn close.

  Well.... take going up to the towers roof, most JW have never been up there but if you were at bb, no big deal to go up there a thousand times. But to go to bb is a lot of work and sacrifice only to go up to towers roof. There ain't no inner circles about anything except doing more work and going to dozen of hours of meetings. Going to the Gilead grad was a special privilege and going to the annual meeting and studying the wt mag study article on Monday nights also. Hours and hours of a special program.   So the US ground still "belongs" to GB and the Indian ground still "belongs to England?

  You misunderstood what I meant to say. All I am saying is that the colonists declared Independence but had to fight England for the land. In the case of Catalonia, the Catalonian Spaniards live there but it is still part of Spain because Spain occupies Catalonia and because of Spanish legislation vs Catalonia Declaration of Independence. Are you saying that Spain accepted their independence ? Or are you saying that all it takes is for a region of a country to be independent is to email Madrid the message: "Have we got news for you!"

  Anything can happen but at this time Catalonia is part of Spain same as California is part of the US should they send the president a letter.

  I am not familiar with the Spanish Constitution and how it provides for any Spanish regions to become independent from Spain. Basques wanted independence for a long time but Bilbao and the Vascongadas are still part of Spain.

  ( Am I missing something? Are the Catalonians independent or are they still part of Spain?)

  BTW what right did india have to secede from the United Kingdom? surely we should undo all the unlawfulness that occurred when colonialism ended lol.

  Neither does Catalonia, assuming that they have no grounds, and they can do whatever they want same as India and the 13 colonies -but the ground belongs to Spain - period.

  I am hearing a lot of legalistic mumbo-jumbo.

  Well..... tell it to the Constitution here in the US that legislation is legalistic "mumbo jumbo" when the Eminent Domain people kick you out. --By the way, if you want to fight, they have guns.

  Catalan land belongs to ..

  Unless you have legislation to prove otherwise, it belongs to Spain or if you want to put it another way: Catalonia belongs to all the people of Spain including the Catalanes.

  Catalonia ( "Catalan") is only region of Spain. England is not a region, it is a Country made up of different regions that are part of England: same as Catalonia is part of Spain. I am politically neutral. I am only having an academic discussion with you by the way.

  Fisherman: In a democracy, what matters is the will of the people and not legislation.

  You are free to believe that but in the US, they've got the National Guard and UN troops ready to be unleashed on the American people. --That's what I've heard.

  ... But getting back to the Spaniards of Catalonia wanting independence, it is up to Spain to give them that independence if Catalonians don't have Spanish legislation to back them. On what grounds should Spain give Catalonians independence since Catalonian ground belongs to Spain?

  How are they not Catalonian? Isn't that for them to decode.

  Fact is they are Spaniards. If they want to try break away from Spain calling themselves Catalanes, it's up to them but they better have Spanish legislation to ground on providing for that.

  They should have allowed the Catalonian people a democratic vote on their future. What happened to the right to self determination?

  Well, us colonials had a civil war back in the 1800's about something like that. I think "the South" wanted independence too. Nowadays, maybe the US should reconsider and allow any state that wishes to break away, to put it to a vote? Or should the US government bring in the National Guard if such was to happen?

  They are not Catalonian people, they are Spaniards.
