Nisan 14 or not?

if jesus memorial meal is meant to follow on from the jewish passover celebration, would someone explain to me why the jehovah's witness community are holding their "lord's evening meal" on tuesday 4th april; when the jewish community are not holding their 2023 passover until the 5th april 2023?

doesn't this mean that the jehovahs have got their date wrong?.

Numbers 33:3 very plainly states that the next daylight period after Passover was the 15th, not the 14th, so the JW's are a full 24 hours early in their observance.

Insight Book Volume 2 Page 580, par 3

“Since the Jews reckoned the day as starting after sundown and ending the next day at sundown, Nisan 14 would begin after sundown. It would be in the evening after Nisan 13 concluded that the Passover would be observed. Since the Bible definitely states that Christ is the Passover sacrifice (1Co 5:7) and that he observed the Passover meal the evening before he was put to death, the date of his death would be Nisan 14, not Nisan 15…”

When you learn to read Carla, I’ve posted that I understand your feelings. Obviously you’ve reported your concerns to the authorities to your frustration and have gotten nowhere. It is a criminal matter. You know about it and others too. But you only hate the wt and I didn’t challenge your reasons but you’ve said nothing about the secular authorities not holding the person in your cong accountable. What hypocrisy on your part. Obviously if the person was guilty as you assert, they would have prosecuted him, no? But that ain’t the case. So, if that is not the case, be fair with your anger and making false accusations and defamatory remarks. So much for the weight of what you say.

Even if, would you even want to try help somebody like that. ( unless he tragically is a loved one, then you sing a different tune)But personal feelings aside God told king Saul to do his job and have not mercy. A female judge before handing down the death sentence told a cm convict that they were not going to try to rehabilitate him but she believed that all was not lost between him and God and hoped that he could find redemption. Then she said “may God have mercy on your soul” and pronounced the death sentence. She was doing her job.

People only have empathy ( for the children) when they visualize how they would feel if some sicko hurt or even put their child in danger. Look at the mother bear.

Funny you should point this out.

It’s ok for the church not to report because it is anonymous? Or is it recommended that JW resort to the same device as the church so JW don’t have to report and also have to deal with angry people that were DF complaining and reporting it to the authorities and trying to prevent JW from having charity status. I mean who cares about the children anyway as I pointed out and about helping people spiritually to stop practicing bad conduct. JW should start doing thing like churches, good?

I don’t know what you mean. The subject of compulsory reporting was discussed at length on many threads here in the past.

Seems that it is a misrepresentation to say wt covers up child abuse as if they endorse it and protect abusers like the churches were accused of doing. JW don’t do that. The problem is with what does mandatory reporting compel wt to do. What must wt do legally is the issue. Within the wt community an offender is df and not allowed to be around children —according to the information posted about the so called elder’s book. So it is misrepresentation to say wt covers up vild abuse because they mark and take action against the offender unlike the accusations agains the churchesSo the issue is wt compliance with mandatory reporting. People like to close their eyes to the fact that in countries like the US minors can marry adults in some States. People also like to close their eyes to the fact that reporting abuse is not required in every State—imagine that; no sweat. You don’t see see people rallying about non reporting States but only about the wt because if personal feelings against the wt and not because of the children it appears. So the apparent concern is hypocritical and disingenuous. Nobody is rallying against Federal laws that protect abusers and other criminals because the real goal is getting back at wt for something personal. The focus is wt and not the children or laws that allow an abuser and other criminals to have rights and confidentiality under the protection of the law. It is a funny standard to make reporting compulsory in some States and not mandatory in others and conflicting and ambiguous Federal law with State laws and then target and be angry with wt instead of the laws that make it legal not to report. A guilty abuser can be better helped while in prison as Data Dog put it in a previous thread. However, wt is not law enforcement or a prosecuting agency. Church concern and jurisdiction is sin not crimes. Another thing to consider is churches that allow confessions of child abuse to be anonymous and then forgive those “sins” anonymously without having to report m, and zero concern or accountability for those children that will continue to be hurt.

Legislation has a problem not wt. Wt kicks abusers out. Read the threads about df.

The government has certain criteria that any religion applying for the hand out must adhere too.

But they need to be fair about it.

Also, Let’s suppose that gov forced wt to allowDF family members close fellowship a matter of conscience. Do you think it would change how the JW family members dealt with df JW? No, it would remain the same. In fact, as Barbara pointed out in her post and I also explained in my previous post, JW family members have discretion in how they deal with close df family members. The only exclusion is spiritual association.

In any event this pressure from the gov to force JW to change their religion to meet their standards won’t work and if JW go to the European Court, I think wt will win because the standard is not fair. Nut it won’t even come to that. Like the Canadian Supreme Court, they will reverse their decision

There is no legal risk to reporting any crime.

I agree there is not supposed to be —but some people speak out of personal experience. They turn on the person reporting the crime. Don’t know how it is in other countries but try it in the US. Why this happens is because in all openness, they are sadistic and insidious and delight more in entangling an innocent person than going after a criminal and sometimes criminals have ties with the police or other agencies. Better to mind your business. Even when someone commit s a crime against you, the police wants to force you to come to your house to take the report and nobody is your friend. They tap your phone. They mark you and retaliate. Its better not to report a theft or a robbery or an assault against you. If you want to get involved, be ready for trouble. Even if you are only reporting, they still want to get you for anything they can so you will need to hire a private lawyer besides the DA just in case and that isn’t free. You have to experience it yourself to understand.

Of course, if they already have an agenda like going after somebody they don’t like, they welcome your reports to support their cause in that case but for something personal, don’t count on it.

So a person feels outraged and wants to help and reports to the authorities. But now the person is open to being accused of filing a false report and defamation and legal entanglements,having to testify etc.. They start investigating the person making the report and they can turn things around on the person. That’s the way they cut the cookie in some countries and that is why the law needs to be clear. and protect the person reporting and also punish a malicious false report.

Your remark is again based on a false premise. As far as I know, JW have always acted within the ambit of law. You can take JW to moral Court if you don’t like how jw practice their beliefs.
