i believe i finally found the perfect venue for me to picket, duluth ga, which is just outside of atlanta.the conventions there are the 2nd and 3rd weekend in august.
i know absolutley no one in georgia and there are no chances i could run into any family members there.
there are a couple of conventions before then in s.c. and johnson city tennessee, however for various reasons-monetary and otherwise i am choosing georgia.
Hey Dave.
Half of me is chomping at the bit over here to go to Duluth with you but the other half is exhausted.
I do identify with your anger and I have worked through alot of the contempt I have for the WT$ but as you said yourself, right now this is what you feel you should do. I would've joined you without hesitation 6 months ago! I live on the northside of Atlanta/. Come down I-75 and you'll be passing my house. Come on by and lets hang out. I have 2 other close friends who did their time in the Borg and they're still pretty angry as well. PM me. We should talk.

i used to wonder why with so many xjws on here ,or nearly xjws on this forum ,why it was not named so .
that way we would not have so many troll's and practicing jws come on this site looking for people in their own religion ( cough ) .
now when i see a newbie join and they are practicing jws ,i think maybe just maybe by them not knowing most here are out of the cult and they read the threads posted by so many knowing and knowledgable people on the forum ,that some may log off and actually think of some things that have seen.
That is one reason I wish people would resist the urge to be smart a$$es to ones who stumble in innocently
Me too!
There have been some regulars here who had little or nothing to do with the dubs and those trolls are obvious to me now. There are others who have the sensitivity of a toilet seat [imho] who are still going through the trauma of the cult and will use this forum to act out and vent, even pick on the innocent.
It's hard to get the gist of some of our commentary when humor is being used. Sarcasm doesn't translate well in most cases for me especially when I don't know the person well enough for them to be that 'loose' with me. I see others lashing out immediately when anyone says ANYTHING to them. Maybe Simon is going to turn the chat into an audio chat so we can get used to peoples phrasing and voice inflections [hint hint].
I'm off topic again DOH!

this is really hard to believe.

i've signed the petition.
Hey jst2laws
They may disagree but keep him on the air because they like the entertainment. * The worst about this possibility is that the rest of the world may believe this is the way America thinks.Sad
BINGO! You nailed it...
Fortunately, there is wisdom spread among people around the world enough so that there are pockets of people who don't believe everything that's on [media of choice] TV .
Thank God that * there are thinkers spread around the world! [As a matter of fact, most people I know in Europe get a better, truer view of the real news we don't see in the States.]
gespro -Oh, yeah, where was I.....and how did I get in this thread?
just got this email from a friend and had to share it with all.. incredible story and picture - little baby .
a picture began circulating in november.
it should be "the picture of the year," or perhaps, "picture of the decade.
That is an incredible picture. And I won't get unsentimental on you, Lehaa. i know how intense an operation can be for our children, but it must be a major emotional upheavel when the child wasn't even born yet.
I know this is off topic, but Yerusalyim, what part of your life did you spend with the Dubs? Were you born into it or happened on it later in life. I've been wanting to know...
that was a phrase i heard time and time again in my young witness days.. whenever anything good happened, whenever a calamity was avoided, i'd be told "you don't deserve it".. the message was clear.
i was unworthy.
worse still, at the meetings, we were told that "mankind is only deserving of death.".
And yet the Society and its imaginary "faithful slave" tried to take the position in our life as a "mother". What if your mother kept telling you that you are worthless, and every time you tried hard to please her she only said "well you're only doing what I expect" without any words of praise?
Major, major issues here.
It's taken me a lifetime to figure out why my mother acted/acts the way she has. The above is the exact model my mother followed and it wasn't until this year I realised she was only following the guidlines set forth by the 'FDS'.
She's got some issues on her own but the influence of the wt$ has done nothing but too magnify her neurosis 100x's! Now I can stop my own mental/emotional, spiritual beatings I've put on others and myself.
It's taking all the brain cells I've got left to recover from this self debasement. It's getting easier

Excellent post. We don't see this material enough around here [IMHO].
I can't help but to piggy back on your info and present the doctor and therapist that I see in the Atlanta area. [I always put this link up...and I will continue to do so for others to get the healing they need].

He refers to Judith Herman's research as well...Check him out.
would you have been better off being born in to it or have been better off being recruited as an adult .
.
what are the pros and cons of both.
WOW! What a great thread. The comments cover the core issues of Dubdom and why it is so hard to shake off what was embedded in our personalities. I can't add a whole lot to what's been said except my own experience which is strewn about other threads on this board.
I was born into it. It's a part of my problem coping with the outside world. I was devestated for a long time when learning the real truth. People have tried to talk to me in the past but, it wasn't until this recent trip back to the hall and seeing not love but, a hiearchy from these so-called loving shepherds made me think hard and on reading the CoC & Christian Freedom books I discovered the realities.
I have two older brothers, the eldest untying himself decades ago from wt$ but was too tramautized to talk about it until now. The other brother, who lives near our Dub mother, will drink, smoke, curse, traumatize and abuse his family, holds onto the notion that it's 'the troof.' I've started the deprogramming with some subtle suggestions with him. We'll see what happens this year.
Therapy specifically for childhood trauma has saved what's left of my sanity [with a doctor/therapist who actually believes in Jesus!]
I probably would have been a Quaker if given the choice later in life but, I don't think I would have been suckered by anything if I was allowed to develop in a 'normal' situation. How is a child to differentiate anything until their mind is mature? I'll never really know the answer of "If you had a choice...

No 'brothers' to be found. Even the ones in my age group weren't there. Oh, yeah, I got some stories of some innocent mischief floating around in my memory banks [and not so innocent...].
Hey Franklin, you had it MADE! Do ya hear me?!! The best opportunities happened to me when I wasn't paying attention when it came to goils. It's that split second response that I've always lacked but here is the ball-breaker that one: If I responded too gingerly and quickly, I would've been accused of having sex on the brain so itprobably was a no-win situation anyway. Women like to set guys up like that for a sense of power. They got the power, though, don't they.

I am laughing my ass off I tell you!
Here's a story: So this young [maybe 14] over hormonal 'brother' stayed out downtown while the afternoon session starts at the convention center. He has his nice suit and tie on and hovers around a magazine counter with girlie magazines.
He gets the urge to see what's in them and tries to be subtle about thumbing through the first mag. Well, then he gets carried away and is amazed by what he sees and just goes crazy looking at all of the dirty mags in the shop! A half hour of oogeling mags and the young brother realizes what he has done and everybody is looking at him. He looks down and THERE is his convention tag as big as anything on his jacket. His name AND congo typed in boldly. DOH! He stands up, takes the tag off, and throws it in the garbage and leaves the store.
Yeah...it was me.
