My Wife Wants To Go To The Memorial!

i think she's not ready to let go of that.

i told her if she really felt she had to go, i would go with her at a different hall.

I don't know much about much in the way of the difficulty of fading away from the memorial, but I think it's great your being supportive.

I know it's especially tough when it's an issue you don't agree with. Even though my wife is rapidly coming to her senses we still read the NWT and she pray's to Jehova God (w/ head covered) - I just keep quite and mind my own business.

We were thinking about going to the memorial, but I think she wants to experience it as an objective observer... although she still acknowledges it for the special day it is meant to be....I will likely go just out of support ... and If I get hungry , well?

Are JW's embarrassed by faith in Jesus?

i think i posted the fact that i suddenly stopped attending all the meetings, field service and all, very suddenly.

not a single meeting this year.

i guess i would describe myself now as a sort of little toe guy, a liberal christian.. of course, i have had all the elder visits asking me how i am doing etc.

This is an interesting topic. I know that JW's are completely works based and hide the true identity of Jesus by various means.

But to cringe when speaking of Lord Jesus - this tells you a lot about their core doctrine.

What is the official WTS response when posed with the question -"what is the road to salvation ("or I guess 1000 yrs in paradise in there case).

It would seem to obviously deceptive and unbiblical to say ""salvation is found through God's organization" outright ...

yet, most people seemed to (respectfully) keep their heads down and try to look morbidly serious.

So what happens if you are not annointed and you drink and eat regardless? Better yet what do the JW's think will happen if you do eat/drink?

Also how do you know if you are annointed or not?

And how would you know if someone is claiming to be annointed but just lying ... Sorry if these are stupid questions but I'd like to hear the WTS's explanation...

candy and luis cuevas had no regrets about taking their three children with them to a late afternoon showing wednesday at colonnade.

the cuevases have two daughters, ages 9 and 8, and a 3-year-old son.

"i want them to see why jesus died, and it was a great movie," said candy cuevas, 29, a jehovah's witness.

Of course, the kids must have been reminded a million times afterwards that Jesus died on a stake, not a cross, according to the witnesses.

I haven't had a chance to delve too much into their reason for saying he died on a stake and not a cross... My wife says it's because it is written that he was nailed to a tree... I always thought the tree description was just symbolic and that use of the word crucifixion hit the nail on the head a bit better (pardon the pun)...

for me, the walls of the watchtower were not destroyed by a single giant cannon-ball but rather every brick had been weakened and suddenly the whole thing just 'collapsed'.. i've alwys been an avid reader and a firm believer that you can learn anything and everything from a good book.

anyway, i was reading a bad book, the creation book, and this time things were different.. normally, the mere thought that the wts could "not be right" could not even be contemplated.

it was like you can't even comprehend the concept or understand the question, least of all imagine it.. yet now, i read the book and things were screaming at me from the pages.

Thanks for sharing that story with us. I am glad it worked worked out with your wife before things got out of hand. Definitely glad you got out in time to avoid any compliations on the birth of your second child... what a blessing.

How long has this site been around? Although I was never a JW I still needed support when I found out the danger my familiy was in due to motives of the WTS and it's lies. I couldn't sleep for a week...

This was the second site I visited after my discovery ... I posted immediately... The discovery proces for me went as follows...

JWD - Put a voice and human touch on the mass migration of former dubs out of the borg ... this beats a therapist anyday

I believe I went to one of these while my wife and I were dating. This was way before I realized the troof about the WTS (I just thought it was another one of many christian based religions at the time).

I really didn't pay much attention to what was happening. I was just there as the loyal boyfriend type person.... I remember we got there late. We had to sit in the back near the entrance by a coat rack I think [this must've been 4-5 years ago]. We sat there for I guess about 45 minutes - some one was speaking in the assembly area. I don't even remember if we got to see anything passed around (I drank a lot at the time - but can proudly say I was sober at the meeting). Afterward we greeted her sisters and some other folks and left. I didn't care enough at the time to ask any questions (in retrospect imagine what I could've prevented today had I merely researched the WT online).

Can someone one fill me in on what exactly goes on at the memorial, general terminology etc....

Does anyone have any comments as to how the WTS could side step the fact that the SEC report states that this was a donation from an individual... To the free rational mind this is an obvious smoking gun,,,but I can see how a JW would use this fact to wash the WT's hands of this blatant contadictoin in their doctrine ,,,,
