i do believe that attending the memorial but NOT partaking would be opposite of what christ instituted during the last supper. As we can see from the scriptures, it is only when we are intoxicated, unruly or the like, that we are not allowed to partake of the memorial. But is it not true that we are all solemn and in the right frame of mind when we attend the memorial? I can see no direct scriptural evidence that partaking of the memorial would lead to being part of the 144,000 and those NOT partaking would be part of the other flock (for earthly life). These are 2 separate and distinct occurences and cannot be attributed to the premise as presented by the JW. this is probably why I still was not totally convinced of joining the JW (baptism) although i have been studying under them for over 10 years. Probably because they cannot satisfactorily asnwer this question to my satisfaction and this is supposed to be the most solemn occassion in the JW event.I cited a lot of scriptural references stating that we have to partake of the feast even during the time of passover until the time of the Acts that ALL partake of the emblems. by not partaking, we are in geater sin by making our own man made interpretation of the event. I think this was done by JW in order to propagate the notion that only 144,000 can enter heaven and only those partaking would be part of the 144,000.Imagine if all the people partook of the emblems, then that would amount to millions and of course, their interpretation that only 144,000 would enter heaven would not hold true. In my next e-mail reply, i would cite other topics ,scriptural references supporting my premise.

Partaking/Communion
by simplesally inas jws, most of were not allowed to partake of the emblems as we were considered unworthy.
only those of the remnant were allowed and expected to partake.
partaking meant you were heaven bound and part of that kingdom ................ well a king so to speak.. but if jw's follow the model...........would anyone have been left out of the meal?

Feelings of an active JW
by XBEHERE ini have been lurking on this board ever since the may 2002 broadcast of that dateline on the subject of child molestation.
that show made me realize that the wt may not be speaking for god.
well naturally i discovered the truth about the "truth" over the past 21 months.

i kind of feel the same way. i studied under the JW for about 12 years but not yet baptized. However, the questions keeps getting deeper and deeper until i am no longer satisfied with the JW explanation. maybe this was because i was not baptized right away and started to question some of the beliefs such as the memorial service, new jerusalem being the major ones. these i found out on my own when i was doing research on some topics on the Bible.i still believe that we should partake of the memorial service not because we are heaven bound but because we are following christs command to do so. if you will search hard, you will find only one instance where it is forbidden to partake, and it has nothing to do with the situation today where we attend the memorial solemly and none of thiose forbidden in the scripture.Well probably i will write later and just wanted to get these off my chest. i still like the teachings of JW and still consider them as the religion to affiliate with in the interim.Forgive my grammar, spelling. thank you.

memorial celebration
by roylester ini have studied under the jw for a number of years have more questions now than when i started.
for one, i could not accept the teaching that those who have the holy spirit are the only ones who could ascend to be part of the 144,000, while the rest of those who dont partake will be part of the other flock who will have life everlasting on earth.
however they (jw) could not show a direct scriptural passage regarding the partaking and the holy spirit and ascencion to heaven.

i have studied under the JW for a number of years have more questions now than when i started. For one, i could not accept the teaching that those who have the holy spirit are the only ones who could ascend to be part of the 144,000, while the rest of those who dont partake will be part of the other flock who will have life everlasting on earth. HOwever they (JW) could not show a direct scriptural passage regarding the partaking and the holy spirit and ascencion to heaven. i however only found one instance where the partaking was forbidden if the member was unruly, drunk, hungry and eats the most of the offering. But hte question is: do we not attend the memorial solemnly and do none of the forbidden things during the ceremony? i believe that it is a greater sin for us to attend the memorial and not partake of the offerings. this is like inviting a guest and then the guest refuses to eat at your table. this would be considered an insult now and then during their (old testament/new testament) time. i also believe that we should partake of the memorial offerings since even during the time of the passover, all those who are present in the house should partake, even foreigners! i also believe that we should partake and in doing so we are obeying Jesus's command and not because we are going to heaven, as the JW believes. Anyways, who are we to assume that we are heavenly and have the holy spirit? is it not too presumptious of us to believe so? I believe only God can determine this.So i told my family that we will observe the memorial still with the JW but upon arriving home re-enact the occasion with my family and partake of the wine and unleavened bread at our home. this is the first installment of my questions and i just want it to get off my chest. the truth is, this is the first time that i've posted something on the chat room, and i just recently found this website while browsing. thank you.Pardon the grammar, spelling.I still believe in the good terachings of the JW in spite of the lingering questions that i have.

yeah, theres a lot of instances where God orders his faithful to kill the enemies, mostly because they were idolaters and the like.
