  Poppers, I have eleven grandchildren the oldest being twenty-two. It brings me great happiness when I hug and kiss them likewise with my wife.
  
  The dictionary defines happy as "having a feeling of or showing pleasure and joy; pleased; contented:..."
  
  My father-in-law (not a witness) was a happy-go-lucky man. He always looked on the bright side of things. I was lucky to have such a father-in-law.
  
  Happiness comes from doing things be it for yourself or others. I have a wood burning stove, I'm happy to have wood, I'm happy to split the wood. Its' a chore I do, but its' a happy and a healthy chore.
  
  I think we're on the same wave length just expressing it in different ways.

  Fairchild, I love the morning sunrise and evening sunset. I've taken pictures of both settings but the pictures never catch the essence of nature's beauty. Sunrise's and sunset's are one of a kind.

  This is the season where the Mrs and I catch on some movies. The good movies we see on the big screen, the not so-so ones on video.

  Poppers, you seem to be a young person, could you educate more about why its's a fallacy to think "there's gotta be something that makes you happy?"
  
  As a professional athelete, to reach your goals you gotta make things happen. It doesn't come to you on a silver platter. Work is the optimum word.
  
  Dansk and I used the word, 'content.' I would love to meet a person that has complete and continuous happiness. In professional sports you better have your mind on the present. There are degrees of happiness.

  Luna2 good comment. When we allow situations to 'overwhelm' us we lose out on the joys of life. We need to take more 'control' of our lives and not allow others to do the controlling. It is up to us individually to make ourselves happy or to have a contented life. Keep up the good work.
  
  JH, happiness is not handed to us on a plate, we gotta make it happen by stepping up to the plate. My father-in-law a non-witness had an impact on me, he was positive. Actually, many of the older folks while growing up had a positive impact on me. These people lived during the depression and they didn't have the modern conveniencesthat we enjoy today, yet, they we're positive.
  
  Today, we have modern conveiences and yet people are unhappy!!!!!! Can people today be happy without taking drugs? Yes!
